“Not Impressed”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed June 13, 2006

This hotel is not located near most of the BWI hotel chains. We found the room to have stains on the furniture and the lower bed covering - and not particularly clean.
The elevator was not clean - but there were renovations going on. Upon arrival at BWI airport, no one answered the phone for transport from airport to the hotel. We eventually connected, but it was not easy. There is a Denny's restaurant near the hotel, but this was not very pleasant or clean. We selected this hotel because of previous recommendations, however, I think a traveler could do much better at a different BWI hotel.

I love the Holiday Inn Express chain, and their Baltimore Airport hotel did not dissapoint! Free parking, quick check-in, a large comfortable room, and a very friendly staff. As a Priority Club member (Holiday Inn's frequest guest program), I had a "goodie bag" waiting in my room when I checked in which contained: bottled water, Rice Crispie Treat, microwave popcorn, and cookies. They also have Otis Spunkmayer cookies at the front desk (a popular item). The room also had a coffee machine, a refrigerator and a microwave. Typical continental breakfast, with only one protein choice - hard boiled eggs. A nice gym with treadmill, 2 bikes, cross trainer and 4-station weight machine. Lots of shopping and restaurants nearby (all around Arundel Mills) - but you need a car. I stayed here the night before an outgoing international flight and the night I returned from the same trip ... and would stay here again in a heartbeat.

I enjoyed the place as a normal HI Express except being scrutinized by the Breakfast-nazi, and the blaring Katie Couric-TV in the breakfast area. Skip the free cereal and go to the place in the parking lot for a peaceful meal.

I went to Baltimore for a conference and due to a late flight I stayed overnight at this hotel based on TripAdvisor reviews. Unfortunately the start of my stay was marred by a bad experience with the shuttle which took over an hour to arrive and then drove right past me! A man helped me flag it down and the driver said no-one had told him I was there. Hmmm. It was the same story for the other passengers we picked up in the 20 minutes we spent driving around and around the terminal and then the rental car pick up. Several of them had phoned the hotel 3 times before being picked up. Considering that every ad I have seen for this hotel prominently displays the shuttle service as a feature, this isn't good enough. Maybe I was just unlucky and it was an isolated experience, I hope so. Otherwise this property has a great deal to offer. The on-site Denny's is a blessing, the breakfast was fine, the room was big and nicely appointed, I didn't hear any noise from other rooms (I did hear the odd plane but nothing else) and the hotel is (ironically, considering our wait for the shuttle!) only a stone's throw from the terminal.

Very friendly staff, they were extremely knowledgable about the area and recommended a great crab dinner. Only knock was the exercise room was about very old. The equipment was probably 30 years old. Time to update.

After having a bit of a problem checking in - they compensated by reducing my rate by $10/night - the room was very nice. I was greeted by a small package containing bottled water, popcorn, rice krispie squares, and a nutrigrain bar. The air conditioner was quiet and the beds were super comfortable.

The shower amenities were to die for. Luxury soap and shampoo - who knew that the Holiday Inn provided such wonderful toiletries! The bathroom is nice and roomy and the shower large enough for 2 people! The proximity to the airport and Amtrak station is a huge plus and there is a complimentary shuttle that picks you up and takes you to those places. I'd definitely stay there again!

Overall, we really liked this hotel. It is very close to BWI with thier own shuttle service. They are near major highways and also relatively close to downtown Baltimore. The desk clerks were very friendly and helpful. The best part of this hotel is the "little things." Everything was very clean and the decor is nicely done and new. Even the hallway carpeting is thick and pretty. The room was fairly large and the beds very comfy. The TV is large and has most major cable channels including Cartoon Network and pay-for movies. The bathroom was elegantly done and had HUGE, extra large and soft towels - it was wonderful! There is wireless intenet access and a laundry facility. It also has an outdoor pool, but we didn't have time to check it out. The breakfast is limited, but what is there is high quality. They have awesome cinnamon rolls, coffee and then your basic continental fare (pastries, cereal, juice, etc). You can get the best rate deals on thier website, we paid $95 which is average for the area. We will definately stay here again!
