“A good value near Arundel Mills”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 30, 2010

Homewood Suites near Arundel Mills (sharing the same physical building as the Hilton Garden Inn on the other side of the building) is a great place to stay if you're looking for the "suite" experience. It's not located at the mall area (it's on the other side of Highway 100), so you need a car really if you want to explore Arundel Mills. The breakfast offered by the hotel was pretty good and was different each morning, at least. I wouldn't call the breakfast great, but it was sufficient; if you are particular about breakfast or don't book a room with breakfast included (if that's possible), there is a Denny's across the street from the hotel. The hotel rooms were massive and the plasma TVs were a nice touch. Free internet is nice as well.

One drawback of the hotel is that the walls are pretty thin (even for a hotel), and I was kept up my first night there by children running up and down the halls and my last night by some folks in the adjoining room partying until at least 0200. I called the front desk by around 0130 and I believe they either sent someone up or called the room since it finally quieted down within 30min. All in all, I would recommend this hotel for those doing business in and around Baltimore/Arundel Mills.

We arranged for a room with two bedrooms (one king, two queen) and two baths for four adults and a 3 year old/2 nights. The rooms were clean and comfortable with three flat screen TVs, 2 DVD players, full size refrigerator, dishwasher, desk in one room, and so on.

Breakfast was great, bacon, eggs, waffles (french toast on 2nd day), fruit, cereals, and breakfast breads, juice, coffee.

When we returned from a day at the National Aquarium (we left at 8:30 a.m.) we were disappointed when the room was not yet made up at 4:30 p.m. The front desk made sure the room was made up and we used the adjacent Hilton Garden Inn pool.

I would recommend this hotel, but would make sure the room was made up in a timely fashion.

We stayed at this hotel very soon after it opened last year. Our experience then was uniformly excellent! Wonderful room, service, pool, breakfast, wifi...the list goes on.

Our most recent stay was, to say the least, disappointing. It started with our room not being ready when we tried to check in. We did, admittedly, try to check in 15 minutes before the posted check in time. We were told that our room was not ready, but would be ready in 15 minutes - the official check in time. 50 minutes later, after my husband had to leave me sitting in the lobby with our luggage so he could make his 4pm meeting, the room was finally ready. The only apology we got for the delay was from the housekeeper.

The room was not well stocked for cooking and eating - there were not enough plates and place settings for a family of four. We had everything we needed last year, so it would seem to be a problem with keeping up with breakage/loss.

The pool was not open even though it was during posted pool hours. Apparently the lifeguard (they only open the pool when a lifeguard on duty) was, in fact, not on duty. The front desk clerk was unable to tell us when the pool would be open or why the lifeguard was not on duty during pool hours. We were eventually able to use the pool after the lifeguard was located. No apology.

The microwave didn't work, and was never replaced or fixed despite repeated requests to the front desk throughout our stay. Again, no apology for the inconvenience.

When we returned to our room late in the afternoon on the second day, the room had not yet been serviced and we were in the room when the housekeeper came, so rather than vacate we settled for a sketchy cleaning - new towels, beds made up. It was certainly reminiscent of our inability to check in on time the previous day. No quibble with the housekeeper - she was very pleasant - but maybe they need to hire more cleaning staff so the rooms can all be done by a reasonable hour.

Their TV channel lineup claims they have local broadcast channels, but the chart in the room didn't match what we were getting on the TV and none of the channels we received were local channels. Front desk was again unable to help.

Finally, the last time we stayed here we were on an upper floor. Advice for anyone thinking about staying here - request an upper floor. We were on the 2nd floor (ground level for the Homewood Suites), and the so-called blackout blind was completely incapable of dealing with the amount of lighting from the parking lot. The rooms never got darker than twilight. Good lighting in the parking lot is important for safety, but they should compensate in the room with adequate window coverings. We had no trouble last year on an upper floor.

We really like Homewood Suites as a brand and will continue to stay at other locations, but we will choose to stay elsewhere when we need to be in this area again. It's really unfortunate because it was a great hotel when it first opened.

Although turning into the parking lot can be a bit challenging (could they have made the turn any sharper?), this hotel has quickly become my new favorite spot to stay close to BWI. Easy access to the freeway and super-quick (and traffic free!) to the rental car return. The evening manager receptions aren't for the faint of heart - these are full blown meals. Makes it difficult when you're craving a Five Guys burger, but it's nice to have a choice if the weather is bad. The reception desk staff are extremely pleasant and friendly - especially Erin - and make sure that you have an excellent stay.

The location is wonderful! If you are renting a car the car rental faculty is like 4 min away, airport is like 10, and is in a better area then the "Airport" hotels. There is so much around the Hotel, a Mall, tons of places to eat.

The staff was so very nice, and the place is just perfect. I can not wait to stay here again. Half of this big building is a Hilton Garden Inn and Half is the Homewood suites. Very cool set up. (Unlike other Homewoods there is a full service restaurant in the building on the ground floor were the Hilton Garden Inn in , so you can go down there for a good meal!) The room was grand! Big open and nice tones.

Breakfast FREE, Internet Free, and worked fine.

Can not say anything bad about this place..

We recently stayed at this location while visiting family in the area. The hotel is very new. The facility is nice and the staff was always helpful. The location is near the airport, malls and restaurants. In the morning, a breakfast is served that consists of waffles, eggs, sausage or bacon, cereals, fresh fruits, and assorted pastries.
The kitchen has granite countertops, large refrigerator and a 2 burner stove. A table area that has one kitchen chair and one office chair. This area serves as both the table and office space.
As in many hotels, the vanity and sink are outside the bathroom. The vanity has a granite counterop. There is no bathtub in the bathroom just a large shower. A chest or some furniture item is needed in the bathing area to place pjs or other clothing on when showering.
The bedroom is very nice with a flat screen TV. There is a room darkening shade over the window. If you prefer total darkness at night, there is diffused light that filters through the shade on each side. The room darkening curtains do not extend across the windows. I wish they had been made the curtains to completely cover the windows because I love the room completely dark at night. There is a nice ceiling fan in the bedroom.
The living room has a sleeper sofa, flat screen TV and 2 lamps. The furniture was very nice but it would have been nice to have had one more chair.
This hotel is a Homewood Suites on one side and a Hilton Garden Inn on the other side. Both hotels share one small pool on the ground level which is only opened from
4-9 pm.
If you are in the Baltimore area, this is a very nice hotel. I would definitely stay at this
hotel again.

Almost brand new, it's obvious that the staff is working hard to please everyone. Free shuttle to airport, or Arundel Mills Mall. Easy public transportation from the airport to downtown DC or Baltimore's inner harbor area.
Great breakfast- eggs, sausage, bacon, waffles, fruits, pastries, cereals, etc. etc. It's get's a little crazy on weekends. STaff had all they could do to keep up with the crowds showing up to eat. Even free dinners M-T. Rooms very nice, only issue we had was the DVD player not working in one of the rooms, management was there almost immediately and had it fixed in a minutes. Staff is very friendly, helpful. The only thing we would like to see different is the pool hours. Only open from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. during the week. Would have been nice if it were open during the day also.
