Making our way back to Chicago from the outer banks was a challenge but we started early and got off the beaten path (95) in an effort to beat the horrible traffic. At about 2pm after searching the better part of an hour for food, we happened upon the Potomac River Grill. We could have stopped in Sulfur springs but it was fair parade day and we passed through there in the nick of time not to get stopped for an extended delay. This little joint was surprisingly clean and inviting and was quite busy for such a late lunch hour. We order a pork platter, a cheeseburger, Caesar salad and a big bowl of Mac N Cheese for the four of us and we feasted well. Everything was cooked perfectly, the Mac n cheese was creamy and classic, the burger was moist, meaty and well topped and the salad was exceptionally fresh, perfect. The BBQ was right on the money and the sauces were great and all down home like. Everything was clearly homemade with lots of effort cooked in. Service was very good and attentive and a fries re-order was put through in a very short time frame. This is a great place to stop and a great place to go out of your way for. Add it to your list….
