“Find another treasure map”

Tried this restaurant out of pure curiosity. I had never heard of it and didn't read the reviews. Initial impressions walking into the restaurant are bad. There is a musty odor and the place is very dark. There was silverware being rolled in plain site right as you walk in as well.

Since the inside was literally as dark as a dungeon and it was nice out we sat outside. It's a small deck with no views, actually a view of someone's house...they were outside grilling and peered at us as we ate.

The bar top is rough cut lumber which is very cool and they serve tons of rum...I didn't count but I'd say it's over 100 rums.

We got the nachos and mussels for appetizer. The nachos were very bad, almost no cheese or toppings. Someone at the table actually joked and said they should have just given us a bag of chips. The mussels were pretty good, not too tough with good flavor.

The entrees were no better, the fish tacos were dry and flavorless. Salmon the same. The only entree that got a good rating at the table was a hamburger.

Overall this place needs some major work on the atmosphere and food. It's location does not help it but that could be overlooked if the food and service was amazing. Unfortunately it's not.

I’m sorry to hear about the miscues during your experience at Mutiny. It’s our number one goal to impress every guest and see that they leave happy, and it’s very disappointing to here that this was not the case with you and your group.

Apologies aside for now, I’d like to touch on some of the specifics in your Trip Advisor review, but first let me add that we appreciate you taking the time to write one. All feedback is significant, but in truth, without hearing the less favorable details of a guest’s experience, it can be difficult to pinpoint our shortcomings, and in turn, correct them.
We take a hands-on, from scratch approach to essentially every ingredient on our menu, and we believe in the well trained, talented staff we are lucky enough to have in the kitchen, so it’s certainly disconcerting to hear that the food was not well received. In particular you mention the nachos and fish tacos, two of my favorite items on our menu. The nachos are usually covered in cheese, and layered with generous toppings, and the fish tacos are actually our number one most reordered offering. But in our business consistency is key, so please trust that we are always working on that aspect of things. The salmon, on the other hand, is an item that is less than popular, and has been the topic of debate over whether or not to keep it on the menu, although now perhaps we see why.

In regards to the atmosphere, the location is undoubtedly a challenge. The neighborhood, especially the immediately surrounding area, is not ideal for the business we would hope to run. However, the community has embraced us in our relatively short 2 and a half year tenancy, and we’re ultimately proud of what we’ve accomplished. With an “antiquey” pirate theme, the space is intentionally dimly lit. Although we understand that preferences vary, we’ve found that most of our clientele can appreciate the old-timey nautical motif that is not entirely unlike the interior of a historic ship.

Once again, we appreciate your feedback, but I must admit that we are confident in our ability to provide an experience that’s memorable for all the right reasons. We certainly hope that you will reconsider our little pirate bar for a future visit, and I assure you no one will be rolling silverware by the front door (this is actually a big “no-no”, and I’m shocked that it was overlooked). As an added incentive to give us another try, we’d like to send you a dining certificate to use when you come in. Please kindly provide us with your mailing address, and we’ll have something out to you as soon as possible.

Thank you for taking the time to read my response to your review.

“AAARRRGGGGHH (in a very good way!)”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 1, 2014

Found out about this place on Trip Advisor when I was looking for a place to go to in Glen Burnie, The reviews and the restaurants website intrigued me. For whatever reason I don't go out much in Glen Burnie so had no idea what to expect. Some friends and I (4 of us) had to go to the area for a viewing and were looking for a place to go after for happy hour and some grub. We decided to give it a shot and we were not disappointed! Let me first say it is a bit off the beaten path but that turned out to be good thing. The exterior is not very fancy and we were a bit concerned but our fears were laid to rest when we walked in the door. The place is decorated very nautical/pubby but clean and inviting. We were seated and then came the daunting task of looking through the menu, happy hour menu, and rum menu. Wow! Over 100 different types of rum (that's what the waiter said, I didn't count, but there were a lot!), The waiter was extremely knowledgeable on the drinks and menu and helped us narrow down some options. After some great happy hour cocktails we ordered some happy hour appetizers. The waiter informed us that nearly everything was made in house and described some of the preparations. As a side note, try the house made fried dill pickles, awesome! Not sure what restaurant these days makes their own pickles, but it was a treat. The great drinks kept flowing and between some good beer selections and rum cocktails we had a grand ole time. We split a bunch of appetizers and a Cuban sandwich, all of which were really good. At the end of happy hour one of the employees (manager, owner, not sure) came out and thanked everyone for coming and read off some trivia questions that people could win some gift certificates. It was a really fun personal touch (even though we didn't win). We will definitely be back. Don't let the exterior or location fool you, this is a top notch place with great pub food and atmosphere! A great place hiding in a residential neighborhood of Glen Burnie, who knew?

“Memorial day outing”

We are new to the area and delighted by the staff an the food. The Sangria was not your typical supper sweet, a delightful tart but very flavorful. The onion rings were very good light and tasty not oily with a lovely rémoulade Shellback sandwich was a nice mouthful of sweet and salty an the house old bay chips were not overpowering and complimented well. My husband had the gumbo and it was wonderful a bit spicy but very flavor full. There is no listed kids menu but they have one just ask.We are so going back a wonderful meal and memoires.!

“a unique and unusual place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 8, 2014

a unique and memorable neighborhood tavern with great food. My wife and I make this a waypoint when traveling north from DC due to the flavors paired with an incredible selection of rums. the loyalty program is top notch, and there is a lot more restaurant finesse going on here than the exterior would indicate. can not miss this one !

Absolutely love the decor and menu, and the weather cooperated so it was a nice afternoon out on the deck.
