“Comfortable, clean, convenient.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 2, 2011

Good hotel if you need to be in the area. Recently refurbished, or appeared to be, the hotel was very clean and well run. Rooms are good size, with great amenities including WIFI and Flat Screens.

If you do stay here, there are a number of restaurants, some pretty good, behind the hotel at the Rio movie complex.

Room Tip: Ask for a lake view room.

We stay here a couple of time a year so our kids can spend time with the grandparents. You can't beat this location on the lake with all the shops, paddle boats and movie theater and like 10 restaurants. I had to catch up on some work this last weekend and was very happy they added very fast wifi. They had a big poster in the lobby telling guests it was new. I guess they needed it! Over all one of the best hotels we stay in. My wife is germafobe and is comfortable here because the place is kept so clean. It looks like they were painting the outside of the hotel, it was pink, now it looks new. The only thing I don't like is the restaurant seems dated, but we are usually only eating breakfast. Staff here is friendly and I guess they are long term people. We see the same faces every year, and the lady in the restaurant remembers my kids. That is nice.

Situated on a lake in Gaithersburg, this Marriott is comfortable and conveniently located. A walk around the lake is most pleasant and the area is full of restaurants and shops. The hotel is well appointed and rooms are quiet with very comfortable bedding.

Overall, not what I would expect from a Marriott. The employees were very nice, helpful and friendly, but the rooms were very old. Bathrooms were VERY old-looking. Pool was so-so, but no outdoor pool, which would have been nice since it was 90+ degrees outside. Fitness room was well-equipped and probably the newest/nicest aspect of my stay. I would expect a hotel of this magnitude to at least offer some free coffee in the lobby, but nope- it was $3.70 for a "cup" of Starbucks!! RIPOFF! No free breakfast, no fridge in the room to put left-overs from last night's dinner and no microwave. All the smaller hotels I have stayed in recently had all these amenities and this was a disappointment for a hotel with the name Marriott! I would not recommend staying here again, would likely find a Hampton or Holiday Inn, as they have rarely disappointed me.

We have traveled to Gaithersburg and DC many times. This hotel and the surrounding Washingtonian center is by far the best in the area. The hotel is impecably clean. Staff are always welcoming. Breakfast buffet is lavish for the price. The location is on a lake with swan boats in a complex with many dining options, shopping and movies within walking distance. Free parking too. . .

Room Tip: ask for a lake view

My colleague and I stayed here during a recent business trip. My colleague spent one night (Thurs-Fri) at a rate of $245/nt. I stayed an add'l Friday night and was charged $119 per night with a $25.00 per night credit due to a package. Hotel is standard Marriott and you get what you expect - comfortable bed, work space, nice bathroom. Wireless internet was spotty and the ethernet cable helped but was not user friendly. Service at the restaurant was very friendly and prompt. Food was OK and pricey - not many options nearby so you're kind of stuck. Front desk service varied from an exceptional guest-oriented non-manager to a "really don't want to be here, couldn't care less" manager. Overall, OK experience, wouldn't necessarily recommend to friends, especially during the week!

The stay here was again suitable for my needs. The rooms are comfortable and the location to the office is also convenient.

The service by wait staff in the restaurant should be improved. I went to get a breakfast omlete order, came back in 3 minutes to find my coffee and table cleared. Then it took 3 further attempts to replace my coffee. Not once did i receive an apology, I was merely given the coffee for free. A little bit of a common courtesy goes an awfully long way. Other than this, the room service is average in quality. A ceasar salad had lettuce, parmesan cheese shavings and dressing. No egg, anchovies and the croutons were so hard they were the texture of a brick, without any taste. Disappointing.

I will return, but will eat elsewhere unless improvemnts are made.
