“Average visit”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 20, 2012

Perhaps it was our visit, but Zio's was average, not much better. Located in an outdoor strip mall I would say this is a casual place. The decor is mundane. We did not have pizza which previous reviewers seemed to very much enjoy. The garden salads were fresh and fine. I had the eggplant parmesan, medium sliced eggplant, with breading that was not particularly flavorful, the side pasta was adequate with very good tomato sauce. Another diner had veal parmesan and commented the veal was dry, overdone. The third person in our party had the chicken marsala and reported that it was somewhat plain and lacking enough wine in it's flavor. Service was adequate. So for us, an ok visit, nothing outstanding.

“Fantastic Pizza”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 29, 2011

I have never eaten in the restaurant but been ordering their pizza for take out for over 15 years. In my opinion they make the best pizza in the area (by far). Maybe the best tomato sauce on a pizza I've had anywhere.

“Go for the PIZZA - far superior to chain restaurant pizza”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 21, 2010

Zio's has great pizza with 5 choices for the base plus about 25 toppings to choose from. We prefer the Marghertia and Pizza alla Graeco but the White pizza is great too. As local residents we either dine in or carry out a large pizza once a month, freezing the leftovers for later. Their traditional Italian entrees are OK but there are better choices locally if you want pasta & veal etc. Their website has a complete list of the pizza choices and prices.

“Delicious option to chain restaurants”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 3, 2009

Visiting from Kansas City we found this place by accident, actually thought we were going to the Zios we have in the Midwest. Four of us ate and found it delicious. I had clam sauce on linguine, very tender clams and mild sauce. The bread was straight from the oven and they supplied olive oil and herbs to dip it in. The lasagne was quite heavy and the sauce sweet. Even the salads met the test.

“Great Pizza, Scary Bugs...eew!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed June 15, 2009

Well, on a visit back to our old stomping grounds, my hubby craved the delicious pizza and salad bar he remembered from our pre-kids days when we'd visit Zio's pretty regularly.

We brought our boys with us, and got seated in the front corner booth...very spacious. We were even more excited about the super deal on pizza's...on Monday nights the pizza's are all half price. Sort of. More on that later.

So, we ordered the Panzanella which is an AWESOME white pizza, and we added onions. Had a great ceasar salad too...but there was no more salad bar. Bummer.

Well, then we found out why. Our boys were enjoying their pizza (they were a deal, so we got them a large of their own, figuring we'd take home the leftover) when the boys suddenly jumped and slid almost out of the booth...in the corner (behind where the boys had been resting their heads on the booth back) was a HUGE cockroach. Yuck. Not little...this was a good 2-incher. OK, it was smaller than the ones I've seen in Florida, but those were at night on the patio, NOT on the wall behind my head in a restaurant. YUCK!

Then (yes, it gets better), we found out that the pizza itself was half price, but not the toppings. OK, I knew that, which is why we bought a "specialty pizza" that came with lots of toppings included for one price. Except that's not how it works...even on the combination pizzas, like the veggie lovers or the other fancy ones, you get the cheese and sauce pizza half price, then pay 1.75 for every other topping on there...so the large veggie lovers pizza is 19.95...half price is 9.95, plus 1.75 times FOUR toppings...so your half price pizza is now 17.00...not quite such a great deal. The folks at the table beside us were quite surprised...as were we.

SO...we now know why there's no more salad bar...the cockroaches apparently carried it away...which is where we'll eat next time we're in the area...AWAY from here. Too bad, it once was an awesome place.
