“Not bad...not great”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 12, 2012

I have been to this location more than once and I always come away with the same feeling -- lacking. It's okay and just that. I think I'll be steering us elsewhere in the near future for seafood. Just not worth the effort.

“Not Bad for a Chain”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 21, 2012

It's average chain food but not a bad meeting place as most everyone can find something on the menu. The service is good but slow. Worked well for us for meeting friends and family as you can relax and catch up with everything while waiting for your meal. The upside is that you can enjoy appetizers without having them arrive at the same time as the main entrees.

“Not worth the money”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 18, 2012

Always wanted to come here and I don't want to go back. Didnt know which set of doors to enter. When we went in, there was noone to seat us although they saw us. We had to actually go up to the server station to be seated since noone came to us. On tv and on the menu, the steampots look huge. When we looked at the prices (WOW) we thought we would have plenty of food. When we got the food, we were really disappointed. Two small red potatoes, an ear of corn with half of the kernels missing, and little seafood in both of our steampots. We were thinking this is going to fill us up? I can get double the food at red lobster for the same price (I wish I went there after spending all that money). The drinks are amazing ( at least they know what they are doing in that department). After we finished the seafood, we were still hungry. So we ordered some dessert and that was great and it actually filled us up.
AND THE SERVICE WAS HORRIBLE! Her name was Tiffany and when she first got there, you could tell she didn't want to be there, could barely hear her speak. We asked for water and told her what drinks we wanted. She came back with the alcoholic beverages and no water. My boyfriend asked if he could have scallops instead of mussels (because we share food each others food and I am highly allergic) and said he would pay extra if needed. She said she would ask a manager and come tell us. Never came back with the answer. Came back with the food and mussels were in the steampot. After we said oh mussels she said "oh yeah forgot, are you gonna die?" Wow, ok! I asked for water because she never brought it, "oh yeah". Brought that back. Checked on us and we were okay. She got us our dessert and never came back with the check. We had to go inside the restaurant to find her to pay. Not going back.
Also, good view, right on the water.

“Loud with Challenging Service”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed September 7, 2012

I love joes crab shack. Just not this one.

This joes crab shack is located next to the bridge in between several other restaurants, beside the bridge that transitions from the primary retail area at the Washingtonian Center to the boardwalk along the lake. Its location and outdoor eating area are a great place to watch people and relax after a long day of shopping.

Diners can expect a seafood menu much like many of the Joes Crab Shack locations. Seafood, Seafood, Seafood, at a reasonable value given the fare, albeit packed with salt and the calorie numbers on the menu may give you indigestion. Oh, and very few healthy options outside of the salads.

The food was executed just "ok" as my steampot had some definite sogginess to the crab legs, more evidence of the frozen and steam method of cooking than really a fault of execution by the particular location.

The one thing here that drove me off the wall was the level of noise! It was high when we arrived, and got worse as the night went on. By the time we were leaving, we joked that people only went thier on thier birthday. No exaggeration, there were probably 5 or 6 loud shouting birthday songs from the wait staff while we ate dinner. Then, just before we left, they broke out the disco ball and loud music for the wait staff to do a basic line dance. Seriously. Music so loud you cannot hear yourself, or have a conversation without shouting, and you cant pay your bill. Why? Because your waitress is in a line dance with the other staff for no good reason whatsoever.

Its decent seafood in a great location - if the salt doesn't bother you. But go for lunch. And hope its only a few people's birthday.

“Good place to go if you are not in a hurry”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 28, 2012

Pretty good food; normally fast service after a 20-30 minute wait to get in. Usually a monthly visit.
