“Very Nice Thanksgiving Spread”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 6, 2013

This was a nice experience. The restaurant puts on a family style Thanksgiving Dinner. I am not a fan of having Thanksgiving Dinner out but, the experience was not bad.

There was nothing served that was not good but, nothing jumped out as being memorable. However considering it was a traditional Thanksgiving Meal, maybe there should not have been anything too different on the plate.

The other folks seated at the table with us seemed really nice but, they just as easily could have been a pain and we would not have been able to do anything about it.

There seems to be a group that returns every Thanksgiving for the Thanksgiving Dinner. Not sure I would do it again for Thanksgiving but all in all a Nice Experience.

“Disappointing”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed October 29, 2013

We were really looking forward to dining at this beautiful rustic, resort restaurant but my meal was a huge disappointment. I order the tuna steak rare and it arrived well done. Our party of 6 enjoyed other entrees, although the rack of lamb was a small serving of only 2 chops and the veal pasta contained mostly pasta.

To the restaurant's credit, the waiter offered to bring me another plate of tuna, to which I declined and did not charge us for my meal. Maybe they were having an "off" night.

“Lovely Meal and Setting, Extraordinary Gluten Free”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 22, 2013

When you have to be gluten-free, as my wife needs to be, you get an instant hint into the care a restaurant takes with its customers just by looking at the menu. If there are many clearly-marked options, it shows the kitchen is paying attention to what it's cooking. When there are a number of highly creative choices as well, you look forward to what's coming to your table. That's what happened here and my wife and I were incredibly pleased with the freshness of the ingredients and GF dishes, as well as with the excellent service from Becky our waitress, who was on wheat-watch the entire time. My wife started with the nicely smoked trout. I had the outstanding Harvest Salad with deliciously fresh figs. She had the Eggplant Napoleon, which at other restaurants might have arrived as casserole slop. Here it was crafted carefully and tasted excellent. But the top grade goes to the TDF Lodge Meatloaf. Soooo good, with beautiful roasted root veggies. The wine list is nicely composed of quality options and the prices are reasonable, at least for a restaurant. We had a good Bourbon Creme Brulee for dessert and even the coffee was tasty. And the beautiful setting deep in the Maryland mountains? Peaceful. Great place. We'll definitely make the trip again to eat here.

“Dining here salvaged the weekend”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 2, 2013

We had a most disappointing trip to Rocky Gap State Park ...... Thank goodness we sought out the Lodge for an intimate 3 hour lunch. We enjoyed the peace and quiet of dining on the porch with many a hummingbird. Appetizers through dessert were all delightfully refreshing. We had delightful conversation with our accomplished server who was well educated about the menu.
