Willy's is an unlikely-looking candidate for dinner. My husband saw the sign for "Chicken & Dumplings Tonight" and he dragged me there. (I had the Outback in mind.)
From the outside you see a small, unassuming diner next to Hubers Bus Company. I had seen it before, would have never gone in on my own. When you get in the door, it is still small, not fancy, but freshly painted and clean, clean, clean! At that point, I thought that this will be OK.... not too bad.
Luckily there was one empty table. ( I really do mean luckily as the other diners seemed to be lounging around comfortably and were in no hurry to leave)
I looked at the menu and was pleasantly surprised by the offerings, not too fancy, but lots of good basic choices hamburgers, sandwiches, crab cakes, salads, chicken dinners, etc. The prices are quite reasonable, expect to pay $12-$15 per person, plus tip.
Waitress Marsha arrived with a cheerful "What can I get ya Hon?" I was inclined to play it safe & order a cheeseburger, but Marsha recommended the crab cakes. I ordered one crab cake and the fried corn nuggets dusted with powdered sugar. The food was great! The crab cake was huge (7 oz.), delicious and was made with actual crab meat, not filler. The fried corn nuggets were excellent and a great alternative to french fries! I did not have room for the homemade puddings or a slice of the Amish-made pies. Marsha checked on us regularly and refilled my iced tea several times.
On the way out the door, Marsha told me that she ran a book exchange with her customers and gave me two detective novels to read! Charming! I plan to return and bring her a few books for her exchange shelf.
A word of warning to people wanting to dine there-- this is really a small place, and seems to be a favorite with the locals, you may have to wait for a table, also it closes at 8pm, so go early.
