“Cozy, Quiet and Conviente Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 22, 2010

First impression of the room at the Sleep Inn in Emmitsburg was that it was smaller than your average hotel room, with only the stand up shower and the toilet behind a door (sink in the room). However, we had 4 people and we were fine. The mattresses felt like they were pillow top, which was a nice treat. Also, I didn't notice any noise from adjacent rooms or the hallway in the morning. Overall, this was a great, clean and economical place to stay and I would recommend, it hands down.

Needed a room close to my old college (Mt. St. Mary's University) to attend a reunion. This hotel was a good pick. The place is perfect. Clean, easy parking, friendly staff, nice breakfast, nice pool, an close to everything i needed. Very quiet.
Rooms include a refridge & free WIFI. Safes are included for a dollar. Of course you will have to pat the 3 or 4 different taxes!!!
Rates were reasonable; a lot cheaper than the other hotels in the area.

Very clean and comfortable. We've stayed there a couple times in the last month and will do so in the future. The only thing that would make them stand out above others would be to upgrade their free breakfast service.

My husband and I stayed at the Sleep Inn in Emmitsburg while passing through that area. The hotel, while not fancy, was very clean and well appointed. The service at the front desk was always pleasant.

If in that area again, I would certainly stay at this hotel again.

We stayed at this hotel for two nights over the Columbus Day weekend. Just ten miles away from Gettysburg, the hotel is eaasily accessible from 15 south. Although wedged between a plaza and a housing development, well placed trees provide a peaceful atmosphere. Parking is plentiful and free.

There was one clerk at the desk when we checked in. Check in was a tad slow and there was a line but not outrageously slow. The clerk was helpful and provided us with a map which highlighted the local restaurants. Upon entry into the hotel we were assaulted by the strong oder of chlorine from the first floor pool. The first floor also features a small fitness room with a treadmill, elliptical machine, weight machine, single weight bench with free weights. It was quite small but had much appreciated towels and cleaner. I imagine the room would be most uncomfortable with more than two people in it. Also available was a pay for use computer and printer.

Our rooms were large, clean and comfortable. Although the sliding door to the closet inmy room was off the runner, everything else was in good working order. The hotel chain boasts about their walk-inn showers. The showers are nice but the bathrooms are small with the shower and toilet in the bathroom and the sink and vanity outside. While I am not wild about this configuration, it was clean and bright. There was a desk, small refrigerator,l imited direct TV and free internet.

Our first night was interrupted by a fire alarm (underscoring the importance of double checking theexits). Apparently an outside air circulator caught fire and the hotel was filled with an unpleasant smokey smell. The alarm was jarring and the hotel emptied. People were carrying chairs from the breakfast room and blankets for the old people and those few scantily clad people who did not dress. The local police and fire department responded and the matter was resolved in a little under thirty minutes. A second alarm went off about fifteenminutes after everyone returned tothe building. this apparently was attributable to the alarms being reset. Although this event was orderly and resolved quickly, I did thing the hotel staff should have been a bit more proactive in informing the guests of what was occurring , insuring full evacuation, directing pedestrian traffic and resassuring others. Our second night was uneventful.

The complimentary continental breakfast is a cold carbohydrate nightmare. There was a selection of cold danishes and cinnamon rolls, bagesls, bread, cold cereal, juice, cold hard boiled eggs , fruit and instant oatmeal. There was also coffee, tea, instant hot cocoa and milk. It was not terribly appetizing and probably a better idea to grab breakfast at the nearby McDonalds. I also think it would be apropriate to impose some minor dress standards. The mornings we were there some people toddled in with bare feet and a prepubescent boy made his morning appearance in his camo long johns. Hello, this is not your home. It is not that hard to put on a pair of shoes or pants and I found it disrespectful to appear in that fashion in a public dining area. There is no on-site restaurant.

Note that pets are allowed with a deposit. There were at least two dogs in the hotel during our stay. I saw one during the fire alarm and the other the next morning as we were heading out. One was on my floor but I did not see or hear him other than during the fire alarm.

Overall this was a pleasant stay, clean and comfortable and reasonably priced. The staff (front desk, breakfast attendants and maids)was pleasant and the location is quite convenient. We were quickly and easily able to visit the sites, Gettysburg, the outlet mall, Seton Shrine and Lourdes grotto.

I stayed two nights at Emmitsburg's Sleep Inn while visiting Gettysburg, Harpers Ferry, and the National Shrine of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton. The location was perfect - right off of Rte 15, the main connector to the places I visited, and to many other area attarctions as well. My room was clean, quiet, and comfortable, and the included breakfast was more than adequate to meet my needs. There were several restaurants in the area, and a gas station and grocery store right down the road, which I found very convenient.

Loved this hotel and the front desk is extremely friendly and accomodating. I had to change rooms due to being allergic to smoke and the front desk girl brought the keys up to me so I wouldnt have to lug my stuff back down to the desk. They have a nice sized pool that wasnt overrun with kids and the whole place is nice and quiet. Breakfast was very good and had great pastries! Yum. Will definitely stay here again if we are ever in the area.
