“Hidden Culinary Gem in Center of Antique Strip”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 14, 2013 via mobile

Have been here twice now on business lunches. I work a few doors down...LOVE the eclectic setup & menu!!! Food is delicious...One of my new favorites!! I highly recommend going...just note that lunchtime can get pretty crowded.

we stopped here for a quick refresher on our way to more antique shops!

“Great food and service”

The food is great! Very will prepared and better than anything on the street in my opinion. The sandwiches are the best! Diverse menu!

“Bad Food and Dirty”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed February 18, 2013

My friends and I went to Ellicott City for some shopping. We were hungry and decided to give Johnny's Bistro a try. We had to order our food at a counter and then wait at a table. I used the bathroom. It was filthy. When our food arrived we were aghast. The bread was stale and the fillings appeared to have been cooked the day before. Never, ever going back!

“Small but Mighty (tapas and flavor)!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 18, 2013

This is the cutest little place, small bistro tables but charming, comfy, and the food which is created here is anything but small! Absolutely the most delicious pairings of flavors! The menu offers a daily fresh soup-we had potato & leek with applewood smoked bacon and chicken-really well-flavored, hearty but not heavy, served with a piece of flatbread. Their salads are fresh, generous portions and interesting combos of veggies, a topping of grilled meat or seafood, and excellent dressings made there. There are always all sorts of sandwiches-my husband had It's a Wrap--a take on Italian cold cut, but placed in a tasty wrap instead of big fat roll-and my Neptune's Surprise was scallops, shrimp and lump crab in a really smooth and rich creme fraiche sauce with a touch of sherry served in a brioche "cup" so it soaked up the sauce -of which I did not want to miss a drop. The desserts of note are the very New Orleans style bread pudding with a bourbon suace and the impeccable creme brulee--this chef has worked in several prestigious venues but comes around to the table and seems really interested in your comments-just very pleasant after all the franchises where not a person there really knows or cares about customers or food in many cases...
It is nice to slip into Johnny's and relax, enjoying the pleasant place and the really delicious fare offered. Good value for cost, as well.
