We dined at Tersiguel's for my Mother's Birthday back in 2011 but my husband surprised me by offering to take me there tonight for my Birthday because I told him this was my favorite local French restau. I thought I might share my experiences with you. I will need to add a new review after our dinner tonight! My experience and thoughts so far:
There are better French restaurants, but they are mostly in big cities such as DC and NY (Love 'Les Halles' which is merely a Bistro but oh so good!). Finding an authentically good French restaurant in Howard County is not easy (Needle in a haystack?) 'Cafe de Paris' in Columbia is not a good French restaurant for example, I would not recommend it. I would consider the food here at Tersiguel's as 'Bistro' quality, which is pretty good, but not Top Notch. The ambiance is warm and so very close to what you'd find in France. I find this completely charming. Our male waiter, I do not remember his name, was very kind, efficient and helpful. Everyone was happy with their entrees (appetizer) and plat principal. It was not amazing food, or 'wow' as another reviewer mentioned and I agree with him, presentation could also do with an uplift, but it was as close to authentic French as I could find around here. I felt I was half way home (France) which isn't bad. It's a very romantic restau, so; great for dates and special occasions. The prices are high, too high for the quality comparing to better French restaurants, but you have to travel for those... I suppose they are aiming for low volume/high returns at this place and it's a pretty good location + they are the only good French restau for miles! Most dishes should cost between $4-$7less. You will spend $ when dinning here, don't expect to come under $100 for 2. But, you will have a very romantic time :)
Tip: It is good manners in France to book before you go to a restaurant, even if there are only 2 of you. Most French expats think the same way. So, if you choose to dine at a French Restau, please book at least 1 day ahead. They consider this very polite, good manners.
This is my favorite local French restaurant to go to!
Please excuse my English, it's my second language.
