Poor signage. Very poor. The only trail we finally found was poorly marked and uninteresting. As we were leaving, we were flagged down by a driver who asked us how to get to the river!
Beautiful, breathtaking views, lovely for runners, walkers, hikers, & of course bikers too. :) Free for active duty military, $2 entrance fee so not expensive anyway & it goes towards the various beautification projects), clearly-marked trails, pleasant, just a nature enthusiast's dream come true!
Went for an easy hike in spring and was pleasantly surprised by how big and beautiful the park is. Have been meaning to go back since it is so close. There are various entrances to the park and several picnic areas, hiking, biking and walking trails. Overall it could be a park one can visit from spring to fall and it would be beautiful in all seasons.
We have driven through many times and have stopped to hike or just walk through the forest. Even though it is being encroached upon to build houses and shopping centers nearby, there is still a lot of untouched natural beauty to be enjoyed.
Patapsco Valley Park has many sections and many attractions, making it a great park for everyone. The range of hiking trails, and their interconnections, create the opportunity for hikes, runs, or mountain bike trips of many lengths. Don't miss the Cascade Trail if you like waterfalls! Playgrounds, a small lake, swinging bridges, picnic areas, a visitor center, paved paths for strollers or wheelchairs...The park offers something for everyone!
