..was never better than this. Are you staying within 50 miles of Ellicott City and not staying here? You are out of your mind. Treat yourself to a a real trip. Although the hotel is definitely Sgt Pepper'ish in decor, my wife and I never heard a Fab Four song the whole time during a recent long weekend there. Not to worry, the renovation of this quaint structure is top notch. Koehler Faucets is just an example of the quality of the room. But it's other little things that show attention to detail and a loving restoration. One flite above us was a kitchen/meeting room/patio which served as a wonderful retreat. Who needs B&B's when you have this? Of course Main Street is right outside and a very nice coffee house is directly across the street. Perfect.
Better yet are T & Zan, the proprietors. We were friends at first sight. I can't say enough about this dynamic duo. They went way above & beyond what anyone could expect from hostesses. My wife & I can't wait to return, and maybe stay in the Paul room next time. Just a suggestion, don't forget the "code" like I did and save yourself a trip to the Subway at 7AM.
Do yourself a favor, get your Beatle on and stay at the Obladi! Let me know if the elephant coffee table is still there.

My husband and I wanted a quick local getaway and we'd heard about Ellicott City. We surfed the web and decided on the only hotel in town, the Obladi. The website photos were amazing so we thought we'd take a chance. Boy, are we glad we did!
We knew we were dealing with kind business owners from our initial phone call, but we would never have suspected how gracious these ladies would be throughout our stay. Upon our arrival, we were handed a little baggie of quarters just in case we parked in metered parking. Then we were given a tour of the place inside and out. They said it took them two years to renovate. It shows. The place is beautiful. Our room was the GEORGE room equipt with fireplace, flat screen tv, big arm chair, clawfoot tub, giant glass/tiled shower and comfy bed. Just a lovely room. There is also a common area, like a big eat in kitchen with another guest bathroom available to all. This has a lovely walk out back patio. These ladies have pulled out all the stops. This is truly a remarkable place to stay in a lovely little town. We highly recommend it to anyone staying in the area.

Room Tip: We loved the George room but it is on the street side so if you are sensitive to noise, you may want...

It was our second visit to The Obladi, and catching up with T. and Zan was one of the highlights of our stay. As before, they made us feel so welcome. The small hotel is at the epicenter of Ellicott City, and you can walk everywhere. The hotel's decor is simple, yet imaginative and fun. And so very romantic. And the hotel is clean, spotlessly clean. We didn't want to leave the Ringo room, with its fireplace, luxurious shower, and radiant heat floor. This is the only place H. and I will stay when we visit EC, and we can't wait to come back.

I took a spontaneous trip to Ellicott City, MD this past weekend, and stayed at The Obladi. I could not have had a more lovely visit. The hotel was WONDERFUL and the owners made me feel like family.

This hotel is so beautifully renovated and the rooms are spectacular. Every detail has been addressed ahead of time, down to small details like providing ear plugs for guest use (Main Street in Ellicott City is a lively street). This is probably not the best hotel for families with children or for needy travelers who like to call the front desk five times a day during their stay. No room service here, but there are great food spots about 10 yards outside the hotel, so who cares? This hotel is a GEM, best kept secret, for well-traveled souls who would like a unique hotel experience and who can be somewhat self-sufficient. Staying at The Obladi feels more like borrowing a dear friend's gorgeous home for a short period than a standard stay at a Hilton. There is access to a kitchen, dining area and lovely outdoor patio during your stay.

I stayed in the George room because it is the only room with a bathtub. The clawfoot tub was just what I sought for long soaks. The bed was one of the most comfy I've slept in; the pillows were just right. I even turned the fireplace on briefly for the ambience, in the middle of August. Can't wait to return over the winter holidays and really use it for heat.

I will be back many, many more times in the future.

Room Tip: Check out the website for beautiful photos and descriptions of each room.

The Obladi is the only place to stay if you are anywhere near and around Ellicott City, MD. The accomodations are stellar and the owners (Zan & Ti) are such a pleasure to deal with. I stay there every time I come to Maryland and have started comparing hotels everywhere against the Obladi.

It is not a resort, mind you! It is an elegant, upscale (although reasonable), small hotel that feels both homey and like you are being cared for. Again, not enough good things to say!

Room Tip: small hotels...4 rooms, all great...

What a wonderful experience. Why stay out of town when you can be right in the middle of all the best Ellicott City has to offer. Modern and inviting with plenty of space to relax or roam, on site facilities make this place seem like a second home. Stayed two nights in George's room - just fantastic with fireplace, soaking tub and lovely large shower. All rooms face the street so noise -may- be a problem for some light sleepers (bring ear plugs if you are - since the night life is worth it. Excellent wine bar up the street, too many to list restaurants of all all price ranges and shopping galore. Bring less clothes and more money! Parking can be dicey at night and on the weekends...but it is worth the price of admission to this lovely inn and old town.

Zan and T excel with so many small and thoughtful touches and they are sure to make you fell welcome. They are both quite knowledgeable about the status of current local eats and treats nearby. Sure, you could stay somewhere else...but why?

Room Tip: All the room are appointed and quite modern - but face the street, which may prove to be a problem t...

My sister and I stayed here to attend her son's wedding, along with most of the wedding party. The two women who own it put a lot of love, taste and talent (and money!) into renovating this old building. It's totally modern and comfortable, with some of the old character retained (2 of 4 rooms have exposed stone walls, there are exposed beams and brick by fireplaces). A large kitchen/dining area opens to private patio. Beds are very comfy with super nice sheets. I especially appreciated the quietness and efficiency of the cooling system with individual control in room and no noisy blower vibrating loudly.
