“Comfort in Updated Old Building”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 4, 2011

My sister and I stayed here to attend her son's wedding, along with most of the wedding party. The two women who own it put a lot of love, taste and talent (and money!) into renovating this old building. It's totally modern and comfortable, with some of the old character retained (2 of 4 rooms have exposed stone walls, there are exposed beams and brick by fireplaces). A large kitchen/dining area opens to private patio. Beds are very comfy with super nice sheets. I especially appreciated the quietness and efficiency of the cooling system with individual control in room and no noisy blower vibrating loudly.

The Obladi in Historic Ellicott City is a one of a kind hotel. What a great stay, modern and sophisticated interiors with the charm & warmth of a B&B on the outside! All packaged in a cool little artsy town in Howard County, Md. We have already booked another night for the winter. Obladi has only 4 rooms, which is unique and you feel very special in one of the Beatle's themed rooms. Great antique shopping, good food and restaurants nearby. You can park and walk everywhere. Most comfortable bed I have ever slept in! The communal room is great for breakfast/coffee and mingling with other guests. Zan and T, the owners were wonderful, we felt like family!

Room Tip: All rooms face Main Street with good views of people watching. Garden area is great for unwinding.

This guest house is one of the best I have ever stayed in. Beatles themed in a very tactful way. Saw all four rooms named after the individual Beatles. I stayed in the George room which had one of the best bathrooms I've ever experienced. Loved the bathtub. Ellicott city delightful. Good wine bar up the street as well as first class restaurants. ( French, Italian). Great coffee shop across street. Railroad museum around the corner, All within walking distance. The owners of Obladi are very attentive and proud of their establishment. They should be. It is a comfortable and enjoyable place to stay. I recommend it highly and plan to return.

My wife, I and friends threw a great Super Bowl Party at The Obladi. An elegant small hotel in historic Ellicott City was the perfect venue. We booked all four rooms in the newly opened, Beatles themed hotel. The Obladi Gallery provided a place for 24 people to watch the big game on a big screen while enjoying drinks and food we brought in. It is a wonderful place for small occasions. After an exciting Packers victory and a great party, we retired to our individually decorated rooms. The Obladi is on Main Street in the historic district surrounded by shops, antiques, restaurants, bars and attractions like the B&O Train Museum. This boutique hotel reminds me of staying in Europe.

Our stay was wonderful in this Beatles-themed Inn. Every guest has a choice between four different rooms, each with its own personality. We stayed in Paul and i could not have been more pleased. Paul came with a large comfortable bathroom which has a lovely spacious shower, mounted tv, an incredibly comfortable bed and my personal favorite part the remote controlled fire place. All guest have access to a large gathering area with a very large tv and a complimentary bottle of champagne. The back porch is absolutely beautiful and is open to all guest as well. The Obladi has a great vibe throughout the entire building and i hope to stay again in the future.

Can't recommend this great little inn enough! Perfect mix of "you're our guest" hospitality and privacy to enjoy this gem of a place. We live in Baltimore so this was only a half hour ride away, but we could have been in any enchanting little city in America (or Europe, for that matter). T and Suzanne provide a great retreat with so many lovely amenities, including access to a kitchen, a bottle of champagne, a fabulous little private courtyard -- I could go on and on. They nailed the renovations on this building -- elegant, modern, yet with old world charm. Incredibly fluffy towels, comfortable beds, etc. Don't let the Beatles theme scare you -- it's tasteful and subtle. After a day of poking the hundreds of cute little shops, the perfect retreat to come home to. We had a fabulous dinner at Portalli's across the street -- another 'don't miss'! We'll definitely return to both Portalli's and the Obladi!

A perfect blend of comfort and style! Quite possibly the best hotel experience I've ever had. The owners, T and Suzanne, have created a spectacular environment here for guests to call home for a night, or several, depending on the length of your stay. They encourage you to relax and treat it like your own space, whether it’s staying in, or going out to paint the town! Guests are able to come and go as they please and there are tons of places to investigate in historic Ellicott City. The owners are eager to answer any and all questions about the nuances of the town.
You get to choose one of four rooms, each named after one of the Beatles (we stayed in John's room). The room had hardwood floors and a lush purple loveseat between two windows. Bed was extremely comfortable, high thread count made for a soothing feel! I woke up feeling refreshed and ready for the day. Each room is equipped with Wi-Fi, wall-mount flat screen TV, a remote operated fireplace, which is a delightful accent and really helps create a relaxing space in the crisp fall evening temps. The bathroom is a generous size had has a beautiful exposed stone wall with a large shower stall. Everything is very open and you can maneuver easily around the room safely behind closed doors. It has a great attention to design with the consideration of privacy. There is a kitchen that guests can use at their leisure with a large table that faces a flat screen TV; the cozy lobby lets you kick-back if you choose. Outside, the patio offers a serene gathering space with tables and chairs and statues, perfect for that morning cup of coffee! You can feel the love that went into the creation of this historic inn; it’s in every detail of the building. And with that understanding you know that your stay is in good hands!
All in all, our stay was wonderful!! I would recommend this to anyone, and I intend to do so! If you want a fabulous getaway, make sure you lay your head at The Obladi! As the song says “if you want some fun - take OBLADI(bla-da)”
