“Our daughter's wedding”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 16, 2014

My wife and I are familiar with Easton, so were happy when our daughter decided on the Tidewater Inn as the venue for her reception. We were even happier as the planning unfolded and the event took place. Melanie and the event planning staff could not have been more helpful through all phases. I won't belabor all the positives about the property/location etc. that other reviewers have already mentioned. Let me just say that the wedding reception exceeded our expectations and thrilled my daughter (not to mention mother of the bride). Food was superb and the ability to "spill-out" into the beautiful bricked patio area made for an extraordinary event. If you're considering a "destination" wedding where people can park their cars and enjoy a marvelous small town in a beautiful locale followed by a first-rate reception, I cannot say enough good things about the Tidedwater Inn.

Hello and thank you for taking the time to share such a wonderful wedding experience. We are so thrilled that your daughter had the wedding of her dreams, and that your wife was so pleased as well.

Many thanks for your accolades of our event planning staff; specifically, of our events manager Melanie Bennett. A wedding is such an important moment in one’s life, so we do our best to make sure that the event is flawless from start to finish.

We thank you for your positive remarks and kind recommendation of our establishment. We do hope that you and your family come back to visit.

All the best,

We stayed in Tidewater Inn in the middle of the week, taking advantage of the cheaper room rate and quieter time given the Summer busy time is gearing up as the temperature turns pleasant. This is not a chained, full service hotel (no swimming pool or exercise room, but you can go to the other nation-wide chained hotels if you want this kind of amenities, right?). The decoration is old world charm. The room and the bathroom are not the most spacious but are sufficient for a short stay. The bed is very comfortable with very nice linen. Our room on the 4th floor is facing the front of the hotel at the corner of the main streets, offers a nice view of Easton. The hotel location is excellent, right at the middle of old town Easton. We were able to walk to our dinner places where the choice is plenty. Tidewater Inn is a charming hotel with characters, recommended if you want a short get-away in the beautiful Eastern shores of the Chesapeake Bay.

Thank you so much for a wonderful review!

You are correct in that if one is looking for a non-chain experience, the Tidewater Inn is a perfect match. Many individuals compare us to European hotels in terms of room and bathroom size and being located in the heart of a town.

June is indeed a wonderful time of the year to visit the Eastern Shore. We hope you stay with us again this coming June and know we generally have mid-week specials!

All the best,

The Tidewater Inn is a beautiful historic hotel located amidst antique galleries, boutiques, and fine restaurants. There are many interesting shops to browse within easy walking distance, including a fascinating shop with unusual gift ideas, many from recycled materials. The excellent food in the restaurant is presented very attractively. You can eat outdoors or in. There are several comfortable lounge areas in the large lobby, the rooms are spacious, and the beds conducive to a really good nights' sleep! The staff members are friendly and helpful. This hotel has an old world charm, but all the modern conveniences including free WiFi. I hope to return for another enjoyable visit to Easton.

Room Tip: I loved 321 because I had a view of a main intersection at the front.

My family and I stayed at the Tidewater Inn as we were attending a wedding at the site. It was a really nice space for a wedding. The only issue I encountered was that the ceremony took place outside at 5PM and the sun was in our eyes the entire time. The rooms were very nice and the food/bar was average. The location was great though. We were able to walk to a lot of cute shops on the same street. They also had outside seating at their restaurant which was really nice, but I didn't have the opportunity to eat outside. Overall, I would suggest this location as a place to stay or have a wedding.

I appreciate you taking the time to write a review about your stay at the Tidewater Inn.

We are well known for our destination weddings and even won the 2014 award for “Best Wedding Hotel for Out-of-Towners” by a leading regional bridal publication. The Tidewater Inn is in the heart of the historic district and allows for guests, such as you, to take advantage of shopping and touring when not participating in wedding events.

We hope you consider us in the future for a family-holiday as we do offer a number of event-related specials throughout the year.

Thank you,

My wife and I stayed in the Tidewater Inn over the Memorial Day weekend for a wedding. The Inn has a classic design, the staff is not only gracious but helpful. When we first entered, the concierge engaged us in conversation in an authentic conversation; gave us the lowdown on parking regs and the sights to see. The lobby is open, bright and stately without being elegant. The rooms are bright and ample. This is not a full service hotel; the windows open, the HVAC is a bit noisy and the bathrooms small but the rooms are pleasant for lounging. The Inn's central location meant that it was easy to walk around Easton and get the atmosphere. We would return to the Inn if in the area again.

I am so pleased that you were able to experience and appreciate the Tidewater Inn’s unique atmosphere and environment. We are very fortunate that we have well-tenured staff who genuinely likes to welcome guests to our property and make sure they are set for their stay.

I thank you for considering staying with us again should you be in the area. Since you stayed with us in May, I would suggest you might visit us in the fall during the highly popular Waterfowl Festival (20,000+ attendees strong) and our very own Brew and Oyster Brawl. Both of these events would give you the true flavor of all that the Eastern Shore has to offer during the fall months.

Best,

Hotel staff were very friendly and accommodating here. Food at Hunters Tavern was very good no matter what meal you ate. Rooms around the lobby definitely put you back in time with the furnishings. Location of this hotel seems to be in the middle of the town so everything is within walking distance and there is plenty to see. Our room was quaint in size and the downfall was the air conditioning. Seems it wasn't working right and we were switched to 2 other rooms with same results. Also depending on your room, may not have much space to store clothes. Not a good thing when your there on Memorial Day weekend and summer officially starts! Another downfall was parking and I am referring to parking after being out and not having a spot when you return because they have a party and the party goers take the hotel guests spots!

Room Tip: Bring your own pillow unless you like really soft ones!

Thank you so much for your compliments about our staff and Hunters’ Tavern. Our acclaimed Executive Chef Paul Shiley is an Eastern Shore native that utilizes local farmers and watermen, which provides for great dishes.

I’m impressed and thank you for giving us such high ratings in all of our categories even though you had to move two times during your stay because of an air condition issue. I do apologize for the parking inconvenience as generally we do have enough spots. Please know we do offer complimentary valet parking for our hotel guests.

When in the area again for business (or pleasure!) I do hope you consider staying with us again.

Thank you,

My husband and I greatly enjoyed our stay here over Memorial Day Weekend. The inn is historic and has great "bones." The staff is very welcoming and there are lots of little touches like fresh fruit water in the lobby and complimentary delicious coffee in the morning. The rooms off the lobby have so much character and invite you to settle in for a long cup of tea. We enjoyed the outdoor dining and were sorry to miss the fire pit the night before. Yes, the rooms are on the smaller side, but mine had everything I needed for 1-2 nights in this charming town. There are shops and restaurants to enjoy nearby. If you are looking for a gym and lots of high tech gadgets I would go to a large chain hotel outside of the historic district.

What a wonderful review! Thank you for your time and all of the kudos.

It is the little touches like fresh fruit water and complimentary delicious coffee in the morning that makes staying at the Tidewater Inn so enjoyable. Cap those “little things” off with significant attributes like being in the center of a wonderful historic town and it provides for a perfect experience!

Please know that if you are interested in a fitness facility, we do offer complimentary day-passes to the local YMCA of the Chesapeake, which is a three-minute drive from us and is a large, state-of-the art facility that includes a very large wellness center, two pools, tennis courts and even a rock wall!

Regarding “high tech gadgets” we do offer complimentary WiFi and have ample amenities to support corporate meetings, etc.

All the best,
