The hotel has a great location in downtown Cumberland. My wife and I went there to enjoy the murder mystery dinner and train ride, which was great fun, and I highly recommend it. Cumberland has a great small town charm.
We stayed in Room 213, which cost us $159 for the night, but that price included breakfast, which was very good. Room 213 is appointed for persons in wheelchairs, which is fantastic if you are in need of such a room, but this also means that the bathroom and the room has been modified so you can get a wheelchair in the shower, hang your clothes up etc. A minor detail, but your clothes hanging on the floor can be annoying to some.
Don't open the curtains! The hotels main air conditioning unit is right in front of your window on top of the first floor roof, blocking any view you might have enjoyed. I asked to be moved, so as to enjoy a view of the city, but was told the hotel was full. Finally, those who commented on the CSX trains running all night past the hotel were right. You will lie awake enjoying the squeeling of train wheels rubbing on rails and the noisy engines.
The rooms are looking a little tired but have all amenities, the staff were great and I would stay here again - my advice to visitors is to ask for a high floor on the opposite side of the hotel to the railway tracks.
