We took a group of 21 people to Puccini's last week. We know to make a reservation at this popular restaurant (hint to readers), and we did so about 1 p.m. When we arrived at 6:30 p.m., everything was ready for our group. We sat in the informal basement, which has red brick walls, solid free-standing tables, and an easy-to converse-in environment, but the upstairs rooms separate groups well, and give a housey feel to the dining, so if you are a small group or couple, ask for upstairs seating.
Chris worked fast to get everyone's drink orders, keep them filled, and get the food orders going.
I noticed one picky person in our group didn't like the presentation of their meal when it arrived, and Chris quickly replaced the plate with a new one that suited the person fine. It was like there was no issue at all.
There is a "buy two, get a third pizza free" deal on the menu. Four of us decided to pursue that option, and shared three regular pizzas, which filled us all up well. The pizzas are a thin crust type, tasty with cheeses, garlic, and toppings, and a wood fired flavor. A few of us that frequent Puccini's like the pizza enough to keep ordering it.
Others found the variety to be good -- the menu has great variety. We tell each group we bring to Cumberland that this is our favorite dinner restaurant, and if the group wanted to dine as a group (even though this night is 'dinner on your own'), that we would drive everyone the four miles from downtown and join them.
I was surprised to receive a thank-you note in the mail this week from the managing partner, following our visit, thanking us for our choice. One more sign of strong customer service in a time when customer service and care are not often experienced.
We will return again and again. You should try it once also.
