“Reliably good”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 4, 2014

The food here is good; not great...but you can rely on the fact that it's a pleasant environment and service was reasonable to good. They also tend to accept lots of small children who screamed through our meal.

“Birthday celebration”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 17, 2013 credit card Amex Card Member Review

Food was okay; private party room was sized okay but was untidy and needed some painting relocation to a different area in the restaurant. Food was exceptable.

“Very good, as always”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 9, 2013

We eat here whenever we travel between Boton and Florida, both directions. We always try to eat here because the food is very good, reliable and varied. The waitstaff is experienced and he'd working. Tonight I had a salad with beef strips on top, and the best brad pudding I've had in years. The steak w somewhat overcooked -- for the first time! -- but everything else was excellent. The corn and crab chowder is excellent, and the sald itself was hand-made, not dumped from a bag.

“Disappointed & Distrustful”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed October 5, 2013

After several good meals at Greystone Grill, it had become one of our “go to” places. Following a week of two bad experiences, it has become a “don’t go to” place given a lack of trust we now have in the restaurant and its owner.

We had previously checked with the restaurant regarding their policy of offering their reduced price beverage specials (1/2 price bottles of wine) with their Living Social & Groupon coupons. We were told that this was the case. That encouraged a number of us to make several discount coupon purchases. Shortly thereafter, however, we were informed that the owner had subsequently decided not to follow through on the initial input that we had received. We suggested a middle ground solution that would involve using the entire coupon for food and then separately paying for the discounted beverage. The manager had initially mentioned that this alternative could be a reasonable solution to our concern. However, after he subsequently checked with the owner, we were told this solution was not acceptable to the owner.

The second experience involved the handling of a children’s menu order. When the fruit on the children’s menu was ordered for dessert, we were told they had run out of it. We asked about the alternatives, and several were mentioned. One of the alternatives was chosen. When the check came, there were two surprises. First, we were charged $ 4.50 for the supposedly free lemonade drink. Then, the alternative for the $ 2.99 children’s dessert that they did not have was billed at $ 8.50. We had assumed that the alternatives offered for the children’s dessert would be the same price unless told differently. We raised our concerns to the waiter who then went to discuss with the manager on duty. The manager on duty finally came out and did decide to remove the charges. He did not apologize nor indicate that any error had been made. It seemed as if he saw us as being nuisance-complainers.

The arrogance of the owner and the lack of expression of any concern by the manager have created an adversarial atmosphere not conducive to good customer relations. It is disappointing, and it is hard to patronize an establishment where you do not feel that you can trust the management and ownership. We now have a better understanding about why the restaurant reviews of Greystone Grill are lower than we had initially expected them to be, why the restaurant has been nearly empty during some of our visits, and why such a high percentage of those dining are using Groupon or Living Social coupons.
