Cafe de Paris is located in Columbia, MD. It is in a nondescript strip mall and nothing one would expect in this area. Indeed, it turns out to be a delightful restaurant with only one (small, but important) flaw - but more on that later.
The best thing about Cafe de Paris is the quality of the food. Everything we had, mussels, duck, salad, desert, were wonderful and the home-made fries spectacular. Very nice and reasonably priced wine list (and food prices are reasonably priced as well). The dining room is spacious and while it got a bit loud as the evening wore on (very little sound proofing), the overall ambiance is fine (though more store-front than pricey restaurant). We were allowed to sit as long as we wanted without pressure to finish and leave.
The only negative was the service. It took perhaps 10 minutes for our server to come to the table, and the wait between visits was rather long. After we finished dinner it took perhaps 15 minutes for the server (or bus person) to recognize we were done and to offer us a desert menu, and another 15 minutes before the server (a male with first initial T - I don't want to put his name into the review - to ask for our dessert orders. I noticed at another table that it took 10 minutes or so for the same server to return with their credit card after they paid the bill. At the same time, i will add that this server, and all others we interacted with, were friendly, helpful, and informative. Maybe just a busy night, but hopefully the owner, Eric, will read this review and work on his staff to be a bit more attentive.
