“Good atmosphere - Yuppie food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 7, 2013

If you're looking for typical bar food then Clyde's is not your destination of choice. The menu is what you'd expect at an upscale lounge, with many items that average dive bar goers probably can't even pronounce correctly.

It's not my typical scene of choice, as I prefer the dive bars, but with 2.00 drafts outside that was good enough for me. Plus it's a good place to meet bands who were there for the event at Merriweather.

Overall it's clean, very nice inside, the staff is friendly and the food was good even if it was different than my norm.

“Mostly good food, mostly good service”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 5, 2013

Went to Clydes in Columbia with another couple on a Saturday night. We were seated right away. The atmosphere is very nice, right on the lake. The waiter came to the table very quickly and was very congenial, telling us about the starters and salads and taking our drink order. No bread or anything to the table (although I saw it delivered to another nearby table) before our food came. Our appetizers came out very quickly, the caesar salad was nice, uncut long pieces of Romaine with sprinkles of Parmesan cheese, nothing special. The mushroom and asparagus tempura was very good, and a nice large portion to share at the table. The beet salad was nice, it had a dusting of walnuts and a dusting of goat cheese, it could have used more. The waiter came back and reviewed the entrees with us and took our entree order. The food again came out quickly (?maybe a little too fast). The scallops entree was nice but the size was disappointing, there were maybe 6 scallops on the plate, not really enough for an adult for dinner. The taste was average. The halibut was delicious and a very nice portion. Our friend ordered the single crab cake, broiled, which was also a disappointing size. Again, not really not enough for an adult dinner. We did not order dinner, but did get coffee. After our waiter took our coffee order, he kind of disappeared. We were never offered a refill on the coffee (which was really good), which we would have liked. It took quite a while for us to get the check and get it back with our credit cards. So all in all, not a bad dinner, but could be better.

“What has happened!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 11, 2013

Those were the days my friend I thought theyed never end! BUT they did. Unless this place gets a huge overhaul, I would not bring a dead fish in!
It smells! Its not superior like the old days were! Its lost its panache! The only thing going for Clyde's in Columbia is the days long gone and the views!

We ordered an appetizer that was a fried ravoli. The portion size was very disappointing for the amount of money we spent. However, the food ordered was above average. We got the pork chops (which were huge) and the crabcakes. The crabcakes were not the best but they were not bad either. I would order something different next time. I would definetly go back. Oh..the waitress was very nice and super great when I had a hard time choosing my drink order. She was very patient. I would recommend this place for sure. My one suggestion...the tables seem way to close together...I didn't like sitting that close to other customers.
