“What a beer selection!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 22, 2014

We happened upon the ale house about a month or so ago. Stopped in without reservations but managed to get a seat at the bar. Had a sampling of a number of their house brews because they have the fore site to offer a 5oz pour, perfect if you want to try many! I had the duck confit grilled cheese which was absolutely wonderful and unique.

This past weekend we actually made a reservation to go back for a real dinner. Our waitress brought over 5 of their more summery selections to try (for free!) so we could decide what to get. Their entree selections are a little more ordinary than some of their more casual entrees (flat breads, mac and cheese, and tacos all looked delicious and different). I was having trouble deciding what to order when the waitress told us about their daily special, rainbow trout with fried green tomatoes and caramelized onions. This dish made my night, it was sooo good. Unfortunately, being 9pm at night, they were out of two of their three steak options so my date had to settle for the filet. Which turned out good, as did the loaded mashed potatoes it came with.

Will definitely be back, more than once.

“Great for between games”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 14, 2014

We were recently in Columbia for a lacrosse tournament at Blandair Park. The Ale House was a five minute drive. We had about 12 people who wanted to get out of the heat and have some food and beverages. The place was modern, bright, and had tons of TVs. It was a little hard to find as it was tucked back in a small shopping complex. We had to give directions to some folks as they ended up at a place called the Columbia Ale house. We told them once they saw fudruckers, pull into the plaza and go around back.

The waitress was very helpful for our large group and had no problem adding tables and chairs as the crowd grew. The beee drinkers loved the assortment. The wine list was a little lacking, as there was no "oakey" Chardonnay. Folks liked the Cuban sandwich, the artichoke flatbread and the Tuna Tartar. We asked if one of the salads could be split and this was done without issue. Even split, it was a good size portion.

All in all, a good stop.

“Disappointing”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed June 21, 2014

Macaroni & cheese was watery and tasteless. The chips & blue cheese fondue, the chips were too soggy to dip into the fondue. My French dip sandwich was so fatty it was essentially inedible. Interestingly, our waitress didn't bother to ask how we liked our dinners when both of us pushed away nearly full plates. The whole experience was disappointing, at least we had two good drinks!

“Great Place for Friends, Beer, and Food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 13, 2014

We were greeted kindly and quickly seated in this beautiful modern establishment. Our waitress was wonderful and attentive. We had the Kobe Sliders and Tex Rolls for appetizers with some great Oliver Beer. Womderful. Got a side Ceasar as part of my entree. Large portion and excellent. Ordered the Cuban Sandwich and the Duck Confit Grilled Cheese Sandwich. Awesome! Ended with the Bread pudding. Yummy. The short red haired waitress was fantastic (sorry forgot the name). This is a must stop!

“Great food, good prices, excellent selection of beverages”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 12, 2014

Unfortunately we live in Montgomery County but met someone here for dinner and drinks. The Ale House was excellent. They had quality food like duck tacos and other savory dishes for good prices especially compared to where we live. The beer selection was top notch with beers from all over. I had an excellent Cuban sandwich while my wife had a very good Kale salad. Oh and we forgot to mention the Pretezel appetizer which was huge and easily could feed 5 people. Wish there was a closer Ale House to us. Similar place is Dogfish Ale House but they are much more expensive!
