I've been to this Hampton Inn several times while on business and everytime it has been good but with one thing always just a little off. Usually it's the toilet not flushing (mainly because the lever is not connected) or some other minor thing. Overall the hotel is usually clean and comfortable.
This time was not much different but the response was definitely better. When I entered my room it was like a refrigerator. When I tried to adjust the thermostat it would not work so I immediately called the front desk and they had the engineer come up to fix it. It really couldn't be fixed so he made it so I could control the actual unit manually. Not ideal but it solved the problem and I was in no mood to change rooms at that time. However, when I finally went to the bathroom to hang up my toiletry kit I found another toiletry kit that was already hanging there (and it wasn't mine). This gave me the impression that the room really wasn't thoroughly cleaned or inspected before my visit so I again called the front desk. They had someone come up and take the toiletry kit and I decided to not move mainly because I had a meeting to get to and didn't have time for more upheaval.
However, the chief engineer, Joseph, did discuss the toiletry kit issue and the air conditioning issue with management and the next day I received a written apology and a small gift bag of snack items along with a $10 Subway gift card as a token of appreciation for my patronage. That may not seem like a lot but it conveyed the management's desire to make its patrons comfortable. It was appreciated and I will be back.
