“Trailer Rental Better than Hotel Room”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 10, 2011

We rented one of their trailers and were happy with our choice. It was nice to have air conditioning, a kitchen and a cute deck area. Our two teens loved their little private bedrooms with loft-like beds. Master bedroom was tight, but nice to have queen bed. Very clean kitchen & Bathroom. Tub drain sluggish and some leakage from sliding shower doors. Plenty of fresh clean towels provided. Living room couch fabric very worn and could use a good shampoo or reupholstery. Free wifi, but slow.

CONS:
Sites are very close together
Highway noise
Expensive cafe

PRO:
Close to metro station and DC
On site Bus stop for metro station
Can purchase metro and various tour tickets on site
Helpful staff
Great pool area with lifeguards and game room for the kids
Big laundry area
Pet friendly

NOTE: If you make CHANGES to your reservation, be sure to get confirmation of the change IN WRITING. I had called the day after making our reservation to change the arrival date to a day earlier and the girl on the phone said I was all set. I asked if she was going to send me an updated email and she said it was not needed, that it was all taken care of on their end. I should have insisted on the email. When we arrived, they did not have us down for the correct arrival date. Luckily, the rental was available, but I will never again trust a verbal confirmation.

For same price as a hotel room, we got a little more bedroom privacy for each family member and a big kitchen. As long as they keep up with repairs and maintenance, this place should continue to be a favorite spot among campers.

There isn't tons of privacy at this park as the sites are so close together, but if you don't mind that it's perfect for the person who wNts to visit dc. There is a bus that picks you up or you can drive to the metro station where parking is free on the weekends. You can purchase metro tickets at the store or the station and the helpful staff are really good about telling the best ways to get around. One of the staff even gave me the tip of which metro stop to get off so I wouldn't have to walk all uphill to reach my destination. If you just want to hang at the park there was Lots of things to do, plenty of washers for doing laundry, two pools with lifeguards, a cafe, movies under the stars, the whole bit.

My Husband and I chose to stay at Cherry Hill Campground while we visited DC this spring for the Cherry Blossom Festival. It was the closest campground to DC, and easy to get to! We really didn't "camp", we used our camper as our "accommodation". It was very convenient staying there, they have an official Bus stop that will take you to the Metro (train). All together, it is about a $9 round trip per person, and about an hour travel time. Trust me, you really do not want to drive into DC if you don't have too!
When I say we didn't 'camp', we didn't have a fire (either too windy, too cold or just too tired to!) we only ate breakfast there, and the rest of the time, ate in DC. That being said, we might have been a little disappointed, the sights are very small and tight. The park itself is clean, a ton of amenities, two pools (not open yet because too early) a Grill, with great sandwiches, and breakfast offered. The few disappointments would have been how SLOW the free wifi was, and how crappy the free cable was, but that really was the extent of that! We most definitely would go back if we head out that way again!

Two months ago I obtained a reservation for a pull-thru site for my Monaco Exec. Cherry Hill took a $25 deposit and assured me that a pull-thru site with 50 amp service would be available.
Arriving late in the afternoon after a harrowing trip around the Washington DC beltway in Friday rush hour, a pull thru site was suddenly "not available." The crew at the desk shrugged and said that a guest was still in my site and they would not ask him to leave, as most other CG's would.
Cherry Hill Camp Ground is well situated without any competition... and they act accordingly. Basically, it's take it or leave it despite a reservation with deposit.
I was given another site that was virtually impossible for a 43' coach.
On the plus side, Cherry Hill CG has bus service to DC's excellent subway and a lot of other features... but the one thing they don't have is an accommodating staff. A quick hike around the park showed several pull-thru sites that I was not offered.
With a bitter taste in my mouth, I'll probably not be back.

Check in was smooth and we were given lots of information about the park and taking in the sights. The campground was clean & well kept! As others have stated the sites are on the small side. We paid extra for a premium site which consisted of a small brick patio and table & chairs. The site was not too level and required about four inches to level the front of the motorhome. My personal opinion would be skip the bricks and install a level concrete pad to be considered premium... Although we did not use the bath houses they were clean and well kept. The park offered a 20% coupon for any meal in their Cafe, so we had a great breakfast there on Sunday morning. They serve a full menu in the Cafe. The wifi worked well and was free. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We stayed at Cherry Hill Park for three days during the summer. The campground is absolutely HUGE. There were plenty of great amenities, and the staff was wonderful.

My kids really enjoyed the swimming pools, which were a bit above average for a campground. The week we were there the place was sold out. In fact, we tried to book and there were no spots available. We asked to be put on the waiting list, and the staff called us a week out from our trip to offer us a space.

I can't say enough about how great the staff was. They went out of their way to make sure we knew how to get where we were going.

There is a Metro stop very nearby. We chose to drive over because there were so many people in the park that week. A few stops later and you're in DC.

The park is not very woodsy. Each site is basically a big gravel area, but the sections are split up by small patches of trees.

The only negative was the mini-golf. It's advertised online, but it's kind of a joke. Other than that, the place was great.

We stayed at Cherry Hill for 5 days. They made everything so convenient. We parked on Sunday and didn't move our car again until we left. The bus to the Metro stops in the campground. (Tokens and metro passes available for sale on site!) They have tours that also leave right from the campground - again so convenient!
The staff was incredibly friendly and very helpful getting you the information/directions. The bathrooms were very clean at all times. There were some large tour groups camping in the group sites so this was no easy feat! The little cafe was inexpensive and quick.
