“Fast Tasty Food for Chili Lovers”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 25, 2011

Good place to go if you're a Chili fan. They serve a free sample of their 4 different chilies for first-timers to help them choose. Good local lager! And, boy they're fast!

Nice staff, tasty chili (on burgers, spaghetti or beans), lots of seating available. It's an OK/casual place to go with family or colleagues for a Chili fest, even when you don't have much free time.

“Probably Not Healthy, But Delicious”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 1, 2011

This is not exactly the place for a healthy, low calorie meal, but if you’re looking for good comfort food and a very nice beer selection, you’ll be very happy here. I went nuts and ordered the Frito Chili Pie, and it was delicious. They serve multiple styles of chili, so if you’re not familiar with them, you should ask. Our wait person was courteous, knowledgeable and efficient, which is always a big plus for me. There were TVs mounted throughout the bar and dining area, but unlike a lot of places, they weren’t so loud as to prevent conversation. All in all, a nice casual dinner about a mile away from away from the bustle right off campus.

“Not as good as her sister restaurants”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed March 28, 2011

In the 30-year history of Hard Times, this College Park location has fallen by the wayside. Food quality is considerably lower than that of the Alexandria location. While service was good, the fruit flies that were constantly pestering us made it difficult to accept any of the food as "fresh" or "well-cooked."

“Love 'Hard Times Cafe'”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 2, 2010

This very inconspicious cafe (bar) sits in the corner of a small shopping center. I actually passed it by a couple of time before I decided to try it. Its rustic interior is offset by their absolutely WONDERFUL chili (all 4 of them). The server we had was fantastic and after she found out this was our first time, she offered to bring out their sampler -- GREAT IDEA! All 4 were good, but I liked the "Red" the best. The next time I am in the area, I will not hesitate to head to "Hard Times" one more time.
