“Average hotel ... always some issue”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 16, 2013

This is the third time I have stayed here over the years while visiting for swim meets at the nearby University of Maryland facilities. Huge plus is the location - but there's always some issue when we're there.

Last year it was a bathroom door latch that didn't work. This year the extractor fan didn't work and we had a super noisy fridge in the room. Can't remember three years ago, but I know there was something!

If you have allergies, take your meds before staying here, the air quality seems to be consistently bad in the rooms. Also, they seem to keep the hallways at tropical heat levels.

On the plus side, it is cheap, staff are helpful and the kids love the breakfast buffet. But the overall hotel does seem really tired and in need of a major renovation.

The hotel is in an excellent location to the university. Breakfast was filling, they offer breakfast and the room rates are reasonable. May not be cook to order eggs, but what they do serve is above standard. There is always coffee and tea and fruit avaiilable in the lobby after a long day. The staff is very friendly and helpful. My room was not ready upon my arrival, so I waited in the lounge, the front desk agent came and got me when it became available. Room clean and bed very comfortable. Did not use fitness center or pool, however it was good to know it was there. Will most certainly return.

Stopped here on the way back from Hilton Head, SC. Parking was an issue because I could not find handicap parking space nearby. Only two doors, (front lobby and rear door) to bring in luggage. Rear door had multiple stairs to climb and no way to deep door open while bringing luggage in. Very noisy in hallway. Could hear people talking and kids running and yelling. On a good note, the beds were very comfortable and the room was very clean per Hampton Inn norm. Breakfast was good but service personnel were not overly friendly.

We enjoyed our three day stay at this Hampton Inn during a recent visit. It is in excellent proximity to the University of Maryland. The breakfast is great. All of the people were very helpful and friendly. We used the fitness room and the internet service was very good.

I stayed at this hotel when visiting my son at the University of Maryland last week. Proximity to the school is excellent. Check-in was quick and the front staff was pleasant. I asked about the fitness room equipment and was told everything was in working order. Not true. Most of the equipment was slightly broken. For me, that is a problem. The room was fine, the king-size bed was comfortable, the breakfast had some protein choices so I was happy. The only other issue I had was cold coffee in the lobby in the afternoon. I would probably stay at this hotel again.

I travel a lot for work and usually try to stay in a Hampton Inn or a Marriott chain. The continental breakfast was the same as it usually is at the Hampton Inn. Some type of egg and meat, oatmeal, cereal, a variety of breads and cream cheese, juices, and coffee. The rooms were nice and clean. One day I had to work from my hotel room and the cleaning staff cleaned around me as I sat at the desk. The whispered so as not to disturb me which was unnecessary but very nice all the same. I found the staff to be helpful. There were a bunch of students in the hotel at the same time I was there and because of this, the internet service went down. The front desk connected me with their IT people who helped me out.
There is an IHOP that shares the same parking lot with this hotel--helpful if you have to work late or just want to get out of the hotel for a quick bite. There is also a grocery store close by and an Ikea just down the street. Although there was a refrigerator and a microwave in the room there was no food to buy in the hotel...sometimes there is a little shop in Hampton Inns where you can buy a frozen Lean Cuisine etc but this one only had a vending machine and it was almost completely empty. Also, they charge $2 for bottles of water or cokes which seems expensive. The only really negative thing I could say about this hotel is that it is hard to get in and out of the parking lot as it is on a really busy corner near the interstate. There is a lot of traffic and if you miss the entrance, you'll have to go all the way down the street, and turn around and then attempt to turn in. Traffic in the area is absolutely horrendous. I tried to make it to a movie theatre that was 8 miles away one night after work. 40 minutes later I still wasn't there so I just came back to the hotel.
Overall, I found this to be nice and clean (as you would expect with Hampton Inn) and the staff to be helpful.

We stayed here for two nights during my daughter's college orientation. It was near the campus as well as I-95. The hotel is clean and comfortable but also noisy. Every person who came in at 2 or 3 am on our hallway, we heard load and clear. Complimentary breakfast was the usual standard fare. Parking is free and plentiful. But, it is very challenging to get into and out of this hotel since it is located at a very busy intersection.
