I am not much on chain restaurants when I travel. I enjoy trying new food and I like to eat at local restaurants. However, we were traveling in a group for a Girl Scout event and there were 5 adults and 5 children. We stumbled on Joe's while trying to get to Carraba's. I'm glad we did! We were seated immediately in the outdoor garage-like room. Garage doors raise up and down to allow air in, etc. There is a great playground that is accessed through the restaurant. It is fenced in, so random people can't just stroll up to the playground. A HUGE hit and help for everyone in our group. Our waiters (Ben and I *think* Ahnre...sorry, can't quite remember) were two of the best waiters I have ever had. Very attentive without being intrusive, knowledgeable about the food and FUN! I wish they were waiters at every restaurant I went to. Between everyone in our group, we had pasta, crab cake sandwich, crab stuffed shrimp, a seafood bucket for two, crab legs, salads, pizza and chicken strips. The adults in our group shared the s'mores dessert and all the girls had the "Painted Crab". This is a rice krispie shaped crab served on an artist's pallet with "paint": chocolate, strawberry and caramel topping. Even comes with a paintbrush! A HUGE hit with our kids and only $1.99! Not one person had a complaint with their food. The atmosphere is fun, the food is delicious, the wait staff phenomenal AND they have a playground! What's not to love??
