I have to give the Colony South an excellent if for nothing else but the efforts that are made by the entire staff to accommodate the guests. The room I had was clean, bed was comfortable, wide screen TV, room heat was quiet and adequate. I had a small porch with two rockers (it was a little too cool to sit out), wi-fi and a small continental breakfast buffet was included with the price of the room. The restaurant was just a little pricey, but the food and service was well worth it. The Bar was packed almost every evening, it was just a little loud for my taste, but obviously enjoyable for many others. The bar did have take out from a larger than expected menu, which was very reasonably priced. The shuttle drivers and front office manager deserve ‘ kudos’ and many thanks for the favors. Security was visible anytime I was in any of the common areas.

November 11, 2012 was my 60th birthday celebration. Everyone took good care of me. The sales department, the front desk associates, The decoy lounge associates, and the security staff. The band that night was awesome, which is the reason I am staying at the property on Jan 5, 2013. The rooms was clean and the bed was excellent. I can not say anything bad about my celebration. I booked twenty rooms for my guest and they had such a good experience that they want to celebrate their birthday there too. The breakfast the next moring was excellent and the associate was very friendly and helpful. I work at the Marriott and I know good service.
Thank you all that made my celebration one enjoyable occasion.

I want to thank Fernando and the team of Colony South for their excellent customer service. After a not so up to par stay in September, Fernando invited us back. What a difference. we were greeted by one of the clerks at the desk smiled and was quite pleasant. My room was clean and had a flat screen TV, free internet service, refrig, and microwave. WE enjoyed our evening in the Decoy Lounge. Carl, the supervisor, along with Nancy and Diane, our servers were pleasant and ensured we were taken care of. The food and drinks were great. We ended our stay with the Sunday Brunch. The food was excellent and I particularly enjoyed my omelette made by the asian cook, I did not get her name, and she is quite funny. Our waiter, Hakim, took excellent care of us. Of course, Carl, came thru to make sure we were okay. We had the pleasure of meeting Fernando, the manager, who made time to speak with us and thanked us for coming. He shared with us the plans to redecorate. He suggested we contact him whenever we come back. I enjoyed myself and I commend the staff of Colony South for a job well done.

Let me start with the good. The shuttle driver was fantastic. I also met a nice waitress at the bar restaurant. However, it's a rough place. It's dirty, old, run-down, and a bit ridiculous. My room was nasty. It was never clean to begin with, plus I came home one day at 4:45 and it still had not been cleaned. The staff member came into my room at 4:50 and asked me to clean. I told her I was leaving for dinner at 6:00 could she come back then. She said no she was done at 5. OK, I guess not getting my room "cleaned." A dirty glass from Sunday was left there the entire week. I checked out on Saturday with it still sitting on the table. The bed and pillows were really comfortable. That was the only plus. The free breakfast was the SAME thing EVERYDAY for a WEEK! Eggs, sausage, grits, and toast. No fruit, no cereal, nothing. It got old fast. The bar restaurant actually had pretty good food. But, Wednesday was karaoke night, which was crazy!!! There were tons of people, a line to get in, and a cover if you weren't a hotel guest. I wouldn't suggest going. Additionally, I am pretty sure a girl was "working" at the hotel one night being she was dressed conspicuously, taking photos of herself in the bathroom mirror, and was chased out of the bar. This is not close to D.C. But, you can get the shuttle to the metro. I guess it depends on what you are looking for, but I wouldn't stay here again. You can tell they are trying to hold themselves out as a spa/resort at the lowest cost possible. It’s not working. There are no frills here, which I could have handled had I felt my room was at least clean.
