“Location, Location, Location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2013

It's an old real estate rule, but location is really key when you are picking a hotel in/near DC.
Lived in the area for over 30 years, and the traffic is the worst it's ever been, it's make LA look like a breeze. This property was redone about 3 years ago, its walking distance to great restaurants, shops, and most importantly metro. This hotel works well for govt types m-f, so they can travel to various agencies in the city for meetings but still come back to a smaller urban oasis with pool and good eats nearby. Weekends, tourist and family event types take over and things quiet down. Rooms are very small, a family of four and four smallish travel bags filled the room, so be warned, but again your paying for location and access to NW Washington or suburban Maryland. Staff was generally really helpful and nice, but the same plate and tray in the hall after three days is not impressive. The pool hours are odd opens at 10:00 am closes at 8:00 pm because life guard has to be present due to local laws, not really something a weary road warrior travelers wishes to hear after a long day of meetings or hours on hellish highways.
Price was reasonable as were staying on Marriott E certs, parking reasonable for DC at 15.00 per night, so all in all, it's one of the few things in DC that still works and you do get pretty good value for your money.

Room Tip: Did I mention that rooms are small, if traveling with more then 2 or three folks probably need an ad...

Small rooms (really small sized closet and restroom), non-working obnoxious wifi, faulty and noisy A/C, etc,, etc., but hey, it's a Courtyard, so all of that could be "understood", but then the over the top new Yorkish adr does not fit the picture. Service is good though.

This hotel was recently refurbished in its entirety and received the highest rating for "green" building practices. Small rooms efficiently laid out. We were travelling with a teen and the room had a king sized bed with a full sized pull out sofa, which the hotel turned down while we were out to dinner. Nice outdoor pool and they comped us for the parking charge. We had a lovely breakfast there and found it to be moderately priced for hotel food. My only caveat - the "green" practices left us with a less than robust water flow in the shower, but overall I would recommend this perfectly located hotel. Less than a 15 minute drive into central Washington, D.C. Great, friendly staff.

Stayed here on a businesd trip and have to say on of my favorite Marriott properties in the DC area.

* rooms are small for a suburban location but very nicely appointed and maintained

* front desk staff very nice and knowledgeable

* local area is quite swanky. I walked to dinner at 9:30 PM and saw 2 Montgomery county patrol cars parked in inconspicuous locations

Overall good, but a couple of issues. 1) Housekeeping seems to find it necessary to talk VERY loudly in the hallways starting fairly early (8am or before), making sleeping in a problem. 2) wanted a coffee one afternoon and went down to lobby. This location has a restaurant only open at specific times and there is no coffee service available when closed.

We spent a night here while visiting friends in Northwest DC. We secured an excellent weekend rate ($138 total with taxes) and our room was more than adequate if not a bit a small. Staff were accomodating and quickly took an errant parking charge off of our bill. The "marketplace" was a nice option for late night snacks for the kids although a quicker non-sitdown breakfast option in the hotel would have been nice. The only complaint at all pertains to the somewhat slow and clearly older elevators which were often packed by the time they reached us on the 7th floor. Would return again, epspecially at this great rate.

I have stayed here for over 2 months. The staff is friendly, learns your name and takes great care of you. The hotel is about 3 walking blocks from the red line, and has descent various restaurants options near by, including Maggianos, Pf Changs, Cheesecake Factory etc. It is a green hotel, which is good and bad. My only complaint is that the AC shuts down when the sensor doesn't detect movement, so around 3 am, you are roasting. You also can't enable the room fan to on, so you have background noise or air-flow. Breakfast is descent, and reasonable. Bar Tender at night is fun, and also reasonable. There is also great shopping near by...

Room Tip: This hotel has many ADA ready rooms, unless that is something you need or like, make sure you ask fo...
