“Great ambiance and food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 15, 2013

We came here as a recommendation from some friends. The place is relatively small, but the ambiance is rustic. It reminded us of some of the resorts we have been to out in the Rockies. The food was great and the wine list was impressive. They really stress the farm to table concept. Our only complaint was my wife wanted an appetizer as her dinner, so because of that they charged her for her bread. I thought was a little petty as we ordered wine and dessert.

“Locals recommend a hidden gem”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 7, 2013

We enjoy asking a local for a food recommendation, and we were not disappointed when we dined at Brooks. Everything in Md. is not crab; the veal stew was flavorful and the scallops tender. The service also was expert; one waitress did not attend to you. If another server saw an empty plate or glass, they immediately stopped. We never had to call to someone. The small bar is very inviting, and the dining room, small and cozy. Brooks is not a mega tavern; it is a friendly and food centered restaurant, definitely a local favorite.

“Long Lunch”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 20, 2013

We were seated right away but it was a bit excruciating getting the order. Need to be faster for a business lunch. I understand it takes time to cook but a lot of wasted time waiting for the server taking the order, then again getting the bill paid. Not very friendly to us either. You better like potato salad if you order a burger because they're not very flexible on substitutes. Also, the drinks are served in very small cups and they charge for refills. Food was just OK.

“Eat bread before you get there!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 6, 2013

Our dinner was good, as was the service. However, there were some things that made our dinner less enjoyable. As was mentioned by another reviewer, the bread policy is annoying and starts the meal on a negative note. Specifically, bread is only offered to diners who order "large plates"; anyone else has to pay $.50 for a piece of bread! And the server comes around and places a single piece of bread on the plate. Additionally, my husband asked for a refill of his iced tea, and he was billed for this too. Given the limitations of the restaurant--the menu choice was limited and the entrees were fairly pricey ($25-$30)--I think they could provide diners with the basics that we are accustomed to: bread and refills on non-alcoholic drinks. We will not return as we may be billed for water or silverware next!

“really expensive for what it is.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 25, 2013

When you walk into this restaurant they have this shabby curtain thing by the register and what the point is, I can not say. It's just off putting. It is a little dreary and very dark in this restaurant, it's noisy too.. At these prices table cloths would be nice. The food is good but not great and the bread service thing is pretentious. They could be a little more generous with the side dishes.
