“Very relaxing family vacation”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 18, 2014

My husband & two small children just returned from a 4 day 3 night stay. We were very pleased! Had a room overlooking the water with a sit out balcony. View was amazing & room was very nice! Our small children had a blast as this resort caters to families like no other. Lots of activities for small children. Little make shift beach is decent for small kids. Relaxing for mom & dad too! Food & service was great all around. I definitely recommend this resort. Kids camp was worth the $$ for some time alone for mommy & daddy too!

Stayed here for 2 nights, this hyatt is an amazing resort with everything you would need all on property. Beautiful views from the water view rooms , very nice sized rooms and loved the decor . The service throughout our stay was impeccable . There is lots to do without even leaving the resort from many pools indoor/outdoor and poolside drink service , tennis ,volleyball, basketball, billiards, arcades, ping pong. They have all water sports at the marina .Was great to have Starbucks served at the market as well as an ice cream counter .That is to list some of the many amenities . I would highly recommend this place for a relaxing vacation or if your bringing children .

This review is about the marina - not the whole resort operation.

This marina prides itself as the "best on the bay" and is one of the most expensive. While ti has some good points - mainly the adjacent hotel and its facilities, the marina is an appendage that is not well managed.

First tried to call on VHF radio several times while a mile away. Never got an answer: reason is the only on monitoring the radio is the dockhand with a radio in his back pocket. Not good for range of coverage and something I have never seen at another marina.

Checked in. Listings in boating publications all say there is Wi-Fi as most marinas have. Checekd with dockhand - the only staff around - about whether password is need, he said just no just select Hyatt signal. It didn't work on either of our 2 computers. Call hotel desk, after 5 minutes got an answer that "upgrades" were underway, could come to hotel about 500 yards away and use it there.

While I did get a partial refund, they should have been more upfront with their problem. This operation is more like the dock at the Solomons Holiday Inn than a real marina. There is a dock andif you stay there you can use the hotel facilities. Need boat supplies? Don't expect anything more than flash light batteries, although there is lots of clothing & junk food.

Just returned from another family vacation at the Hyatt Regency Cheasapeake Bay Resort with my wife and two boys (now ages 5 & 10). This was our fifth visit to this Hyatt in the past 4 years and my boys always love the impressive pools and many activities. We've always enjoyed our stays here - the only issue this time was some confusion by the hotel over which restaurants were open on a Tuesday night. We received conflicting info from different employees and when we tried to go the the Blue Point Oyster Co. (a favorite of ours with a beautiful deck to watch the sunset) a short stroll down the beach from the hotel for dinner, even the restaurant's answering machine gave incorrect info. We called to make a reservation and the recorded message said "we are now open Tuesday through Sunday" yet when we arrived, we found that it was closed on Tuesdays. Other than that, the hotel is still impressive. Our boys favorite activity is the nightly "dive-in" movie and the outdoor pools, mini-golf, hourly children's activities, nightly s'mores by the fire, etc. always keeps us busy. Highly recommended for anyone travelling with children.

Room Tip: ask for a water view

This is the second time we stayed here. The first time was last year around the same time - July 4th.

It is definitely crowded at this time, and I understand what happens when a hotel is full. This year, the seating by the pools was actually better than last year. The hotel has four pools to sit around and it is very spacious. The "beach" is not good - the hotel does not invest anything in encouraging guests to sit there - no umbrellas or chair service.

The breakfast buffet is excellent and the price for it is very reasonable. The poolside lunch choices are quite good for a resort like this and also priced reasonably.

The turndown service was a challenge this year. I had to call several times to obtain turndown service. Otherwise, the rooms are kept clean and nicely stocked.

All in all, I would likely return.

We stayed at the hotel for 3 nights in July. The resort had nice grounds and plenty of free activities for our two middle school kids. The hotel looked worn and needed some repair. We chose this resort because it allowed dogs. The first morning of our stay we called housekeeping to tell them to come because the resort rules state the dog can not be in the room while housekeeping is in the rooms. They stated they would come right away. After 45 minutes outside in the heat we come back to a dirty room. The next day the housekeeping staff just decided to skip us again. We spent several hours each day just trying to have our room cleaned. We were placed on the "dog" hall that smelled strongly of urine. Our room was clean and smelled nice. Overall we had a nice time but I felt the resort lacked the usual standards you find at most Hyatts.
