“really excellent with a few exceptions”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 weeks ago

Stayed for three nights, and was amazed at the value for $$. Super included breakfast, two evenings with a light supper buffet, clean spacious rooms, wonderful charming friendly staff. The biggest exception was the unreliable internet. Endless frustration with it cutting in and out, or simply not available or painfully slow. Clearly not robust enough for the number of users. We had to try to time our usage when we thought others would be asleep, or having a meal. The weak signal was less weak in the living room, and almost non-existence in the adjoining bedroom. This was incredibly annoying. The front desk did send up an engineer, with a great attitude, but the system is simply not serviceable.

Front desk guy Wasel is the epitome of customer service - he's upbeat, knowledgeable, super charming, professional, and competent. Wow. The rest of the front desk staff, while extremely nice, need more training. They often did not have answers to questions about shopping, etc (I was told that there was no shopping to be had in the immediate area, and later discovered quite the contrary).

Lastly, but most serious, is the fact that the lifeguard at the pool spent most of her time working on a crossword puzzle, or Sudoku, or similar and very rarely raised her head to look around. There were tons of little kids running around, and it would have been easy for one of them to have fallen in the pool and drowned. This was at 5:15 p.m. last Friday (August 15th) - female brunette with pony tail.

Despite these issues (and especially the wretched internet), it was a great stay and a super place. Would definitely rebook.

We recently stayed at Residence Inn for six weeks! It was a great place to stay. The staff were extremely pleasant and helpful. They seemed very tuned in to individual resident's needs despite the huge number of people staying. Always very friendly in greeting both entering and leaving the foyer. Ryan Riddell was very friendly during evening socials and Matt was most helpful as reception.
The breakfast was ample, a huge variety of food to suit all tastes. I especially loved the fresh pancakes on Saturdays!
The situation of the hotel was excellent, 5 minute walk from the Metro and 5 minute walk to Bethesda - where there is a great variety of shops and restaurants and a good buzz and atmosphere.. Bethesda is 6 stops from Downtown DC, three stops frm the Zoo,if you have kids, or one stop to Friendship Heights if you are a "shopper"!
The rooms were very spacious and just what we needed for a long stay. Spacious living area, small kitchen which had everything we needed and spacious bedroom with ensuite. And to top it all off excellent house keeping by Martha, she was a star! Our suite was spotless each day on our return - holidays are for relaxing and she made it that!
Roof top pool and relaxing area was just lovely. A good size of pool, sufficient use of clean towels, nice area for relaxing to read and life guards always very professional in keeping the pool clean and supervising vigilantly!
Quite a bit of moise outside at night as they are repairing the roads in Bethesda, but not exactly the hotel's fault!
Daily news papers provided which was great and any amount of help with directions etc from staff at reception.
A lovely holiday at a great location and lovely hotel!
Cathy

We stayed for three nights and found it to be very easy to go on the metro to go into D.C. The staff were so helpful and friendly. The hotel was very clean and all but the bathroom were very modern. We stayed in the suite and found the kitchen & table area to be very small. There were no ice machines but the staff were more than happy to provide it at the desk. Warning: the water gets scolding hot !!!! So if you'd like a sauna~like bath...you've got that here! The only parking is to valet park for $20/night.

My wife and I returned to this hotel for a six-night stay while visiting friends in Maryland and museums in Washington. It remains our top choice for accommodations in the D.C. area. Service was consistently good, breakfast average for Residence Inns (go down very early for best selection), valet parking quick and professional, wi-fi free and fast. Our room was on the 10th floor, facing Wisconsin, with traffic and construction noise but not bothersome; the hotel overall is quiet and clean. We booked a king bed, were given two queens instead, but that was no matter. The mattress and bedding were comfortable, pillows too firm (and all alike). Downtown Bethesda is moderately upscale and becoming more so, with several good restaurants within walking distance of the hotel.

Just returned from a 3 day stay in Bethesda. This hotel is in a great location and serves as a great home base for touring DC. Just a short walk to Metro. Safe area, parking for a fair price, early check in....We enjoyed breakfast, free wifi.

Excellent experience staying at the Residence Inn, Bethesda July 30-Aug 2 for the Citi Open Tennis Center. As always, we got a military discount on room, an early check-in, even an upgrade to King/bedroom suite, and full breakfast buffet style. Full kitchen facilities a plus for afternoon/evening fetishes when the breakfast bar was not avail. Another major plus was its location, only 1 block from the metrorail. Easy access to DC and surrounding sites. Employee assistance invaluable about use of metrorail, DC sites, and local area (Bethesda) restaurants. Received several welcome/reminder emails from the Residence Inn prior to our arrival offering assistance, suggestions on local touring options, etc. Excellent all the way around.
