“Nice but comes with basic services”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 8, 2013

The hotel appearance was very nice and the employees were helpful & pleasant. The location is great for taking a metro to DC. We were disappointed at the lack of refrigerator in our room. I was also surprised to see a $4 charge a month later for a single water bottle I didn't touch.

This hotel is way OVER due for their room re-do. Possibly the Lobby Re-do as well. If your looking for a an average stay because you plan on being out late night and not doing much sleeping here then it is worth the money I suppose.
However, I was not impressed with the fact that you have to go outdoors to use the elevator to the parking garage. I realize this is due to the fact that parking is actually managed by someone other than the hotel but it is cold at least 6 months out of the year and very inconvenient.
One plus to this hotel is the dining options of Morton's Steak house and the Daily Grill. Being a local I have been to both these restaurants without staying at the hotel it self. Daily Grill has a great breakfast/brunch option and Morton's of course for you steak lovers what's better than that.
We did not use the gym or pool so I can not comment on those items.
ROOM comments:
rooms were clean with the exception of the ancient red chair which was missing buttons and was stained from years of abuse. The round accent table was pretty beat up as well and looked as if someone tried to break into the locked side panel. The dresser and TV need updating as well too large for this brand they are more suitable for extended stay guests. Vinyl in room and bathroom were pealing and their was presence of mold in the shower area (not uncommon due to ventilation in most hotels not being the best) but thought I should mention it for those of you with allergic concerns.
Overall with a little upgrading here and there it is actually one of the best situated hotels if you plan on exploring DC or Bethesda area. It is located directly above the Bethesda Metro station for easy access into and out of the city.

Room Tip: DO not pay to stay in the higher level rooms. They offer this to you several times for an extra fee...

VERY average hotel, which is NOT what I've come to expect from the brand. Location is good for the Metro, shopping, restaurants in Bethesda, and accessible to the National Zoo area and northwest DC (5-6 miles). Parking is $20/day with in-out access (higher on weekends) or $12 for 24 hours, and is below the hotel, and not managed by the hotel.

Check in was easy and quick, staff was friendly and responsive. I actually enjoy the atrium experience but as others have said, updates are greatly needed. Décor, carpeting, everything was circa 1990. Rooms were much the same. Had a queen room, TINY, with outdated furniture - had to prop the TV cabinet door open with the recycling bin in order to watch TV. Bed was comfortable and AC/Heat functioned properly. Shower pressure was lacking, towels were hardly better than average.

All in all the property was fine, I would stay again if booked through a discount site again, but wouldn't pay their walk-in rates. Exercise facility was decent, and NOTE: there are Cybex machines (again, from the 90s) opposite the pool, so don't think the whole facility is just the 3 elipticals and recumbent bike when you first walk in. Bad thing though is that room with the machines is closed weekdays 10am-5pm, as is the pool.... ?

Just not what I've come to appreciate about Hyatt. Oh, and Daily Grill Restaurant is way over priced!

Spent the weekend here and had a good time. Conveniently located on the Metro Red Line in a safe looking neighborhood. Rooms were clean but service was just okay. We had booked what we thought were 2 queen beds but they were not even close to queens, The beds were very small. The restaurants (Morton's Steakhouse and The Daily Grill) were okay but nothing I would rush back to. A couple blocks away is a wonderful shopping district and really good restaurants. We would stay here again mainly for the Metro convenience.

While this is not the newest, most up to date hotel that I've stayed in recently, it had the NICEST desk staff that I've encountered in a long time. Each and every one of them were just wonderful! From the desk staff, to the valet, to the bellmen, they were all equally friendly and helpful.
While the hotel itself could use a facelift, it was very clean and completely adequate in every way.
Of special note -- the hotel sits directly on top of a Metro station, so getting around by Metro is very convenient.

My wife had a conference at the NIH, so we chose this hotel because of its great location above the Metro. It is really close to great restaurants and a nice jogging trail that connects with Rock Creek Park is nearby. The staff was friendly and helpful pointing out where to find the trail entrance.

The room looked like it could be updated, especially the bathroom, which contained a random wicker basket under the sink that was dirty and I'm not really sure what its purpose was.

All in all, it was a nice location for our trip.

Last night the fire alarm went off in the hotel and there were no announcements and no staff about to help with the evacuation.
Lots of guests were left to wander and wonder. I felt more could have been done to communicate with us about what was going on.
