The breakfast buddy is very good. Also the location is great. No car necessary.

Stayed at this property while on vacation. Lots of shopping and restaurant a fews miles from the hotel. The staff was very freindly and accomodating. The hotel needs a service elavator for delivery and cleaning personnel. The rooms were clean although the carpet appeared to be worn and dingy. There is no self-parking, only valet which can be pricey. Overall, it wasn't a bad stay.

We were there with family and extended family for a family wedding. The beds were very comfortable. They provided a beautiful reception in the ballroom. There is no self parking, only valet and you will be charged $10 a night on weekends and $20 a night during the week. The pool is on the top of the hotel and it is very nice and clean and there is free internet access. They provide a buffet breakfast for $16.

I was going to arrive early so I called ahead. The staff was very friendly and made sure a room was available when I got in. I am a Hilton Honors member (free to join). With that they upgraded my room and provided free internet. The room was on an upper floor and had a balcony. The hotel itself is fine. It had a small but nice rooftop pool. The gym is up there also but leaves a lot to be desired. Valet parking includes in and out service but you really don't need a car because it is easy to walk to everything in Bethesda and Metro is only a few blocks away. I have stayed in almost every hotel in Bethesda and for the price, the Doubletree was very nice. The Hyatt is usually my got to choice but it was substantially more expensive the weekend I was in town. Check prices of both before you travel.

Room Tip: Join Hilton Honors for a free upgrade if available.

The Doubletree in Bethesda, MD is your typical Doubletree. Everything is just fine. There is nothing exceptional and there is nothing to disappoint. You are on a major travel road so try to get on the upper floors. Wisconsin ave is very loud during am & pm rush time. For all the people who say it's not walkable from the metro, they clearly are not into walking at all. It's a healthy walk, if you have luggage I hope it has wheels. The true underrated nature of this hotel is it's proximity to all the good food in Bethesda. If you can dream it, they have it. All within easy walking distance. The only drawback is parking at the hotel. ONLY VALET! When I stay in the DC area this is my first choice for access to the metro and the highway(495)

Room Tip: Corner wi/balcony

Everyone here seems so HAPPY to be working there, happy to see you, happy to help. Whatever management is doing to create that feeling, it works. The buffet breakfast was one of the best. Large, comfy rooms, very clean, nice common areas. A good location, not a great one (on the main drag -- Wisc, Ave. -- but a bit of a hike from downtown). Hotel elevators are oddly slow, and one was out of service part of the time.

Stayed here for Memorial Weekend 2012 with my other half. As we are not from the U.S. we were unaware that we drove into Washington for probably its most popular and busy weekend. We knew the Bethesda area was a nice location on the metro line and we were not disappointed. Plenty of hotels, safe area, convenient access to downtown Washington DC.

We stayed at DoubleTree as it was the cheapest hotel with availability, only three hotels had any room at all. But, because we were so late, we got a free room upgrade, which was very nice. You would expect maybe a 5 star review as we got a free upgrade to a nice suite, and there is a rooftop gym and pool. However, had I paid full price for the suite I would definitely have been disappointed. The most bizarre part of the hotel was that there were only 2 elevators! So 16 floors of guests and service staff were confined to sharing 2 small elevators, not a clever design.

Breakfast not included was annoying.
Free shuttle buss to metro was a nice surprise.

All and all, the hotel staff were friendly, the room was clean and pool was alright.
