“Spacious rooms, easy access, quiet air conditioning!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 2, 2011

We stayed at this hotel to be near Washington as well as the Air and Space Museum at Dulles. The location is very close to the I-495 Beltway as well as Old Georgetown Ave, which can get you to the center of Bethesda in under 10 minutes without getting on a highway. There are a lot of fabulous restaurants in the city center.

With Marriott's International Headquarters only a few buildings away, the staff at this Marriott site stays on their toes. The building is clean and attractive. The suite rooms are big and have an unusual layout that breaks the monotony of most hotel rooms. There is a good sized desk for working as well as a nice sitting room with wet bar. The bed was comfortable and the HVAC system is the best that I've encountered in a decade. It was a QUIET internal system that distributes evenly and kept its cool even when it was 104F outside!

The breakfast buffet is a notch above what one typically finds today although the restaurant is a little small, creating a bit of a wait for tables in the morning. Food was good to very good. Staff was attentive and moved quick.

We had no problems with billing upon departure. There were no phantom or hidden charges on the bill. The correct amount was charged to the credit card. An email receipt was also provided.

Parking is in an attached building connected to the hotel by an enclosed walkway. The pool is an inside/outside layout that is fun to use. The fitness center is small but well thought out and has a good variety of workout options. Better than most.

My only peeve is that WIFI is only available in the lobby, bar and cafe areas. Guest rooms only have a high speed wired connection, which is great if you have a laptop but is of no help for smartphones and tablets. You'll find lots of people with laptops at the bar and lobby in the evening.

Room Tip: Marriott is very good about accomodating room needs listed on their online reservation system.

Stayed the last weekend in June before school let out and was a weekend with the boys. The hotel was amazing. Staff were very professional, hotel was spottless and the buffet breakfast was fantastic which had self serve and ala carte (and included in the room price) During the week buffet breakfast not included in the room. There is a huge mall (Westfield Shoppingtown) just a 2 minute drive from the hotel and we went out into Georgetown and Washington DC to eat (There are lots of choice just a 10 minute drive away). Our group had about 8 rooms in total and everyone had a great time and loved the hotel.
The only two issues we had at all was across the street on the south side of Democracy Blvd, there was a fire station, and when the fire trucks leave at 4 am with the sirens on, it could wake you up. If you stay on the north side, you will not hear a thing. Also we went to the airport to pick someone up. 20 minutes to get there and 2 hours to get back. If possible, try to avoid rush hour traffic as it can be extremely slow like in any large city.
If visiting the area again, this hotel would be my first chose.

Room Tip: Chose a hotel on the north side as there is a fire station on the south side just across the street...

Sure, the location's not glamorous, but I was pleasantly surprised at how nice this hotel was. I definitely plan on returning. Not your average Marriott.

We stayed here on a long, late June weekend and found this hotel to be a very good value with a location that was pretty easy to get to, in, and out of. The hotel is immaculate, the service was fast, friendly and efficient, and the room, a king suite with foldout bed, was fine for our small, young family. The Metro line in to DC seems a lot closer than both the Marriott website and Google suggested (don't use Google for the directions to the Grosvenor-Strathmore station - they weren't reliable), and provided a very easy, hassle-free trip into Washington for a trip to the Zoo and sightseeing. The Montgomery Mall is a very short drive away for any shopping, entertainment, and expecially, dining needs, even for very picky eaters (as small children can be). The indoor and outdoor pool options were also invaluable. I would recommend this hotel to anyone. There is a charge for parking, which seems rare in a non-urban area, but given the fact that the hotel sits very near to an office park with other garages, it seems understandable, though it would seem like, perhaps, the hotel could either validate or waive fees for guests.

Hotel has lovely and spacious rooms. The hotel offers great weekend rates that include free breakfast for two and free wireless Internet. The parking garage is about $12/night, and is the only available parking.

Nice full breakfast buffet.

Be aware, however, that there is NO wireless Internet in the guest rooms. I stayed there in June 2011 with a rate that included "free wireless Internet". Only when I opened my iPad2 did I discover that the "free wireless Internet" is ONLY available in the lobby.

Nothing is within walking distance of the hotel, so be aware of that. Lots of great shopping very close by, but you definitely need a car.

We stayed in this hotel as well as the Bethesda Marriott and greatly preferred this hotel. The suite was larger than the normal rooms of Marriotts and the staff worked hard in every way to please the customer. We dined at the nearby Legal Foods and enjoyed the stay- including the breakfast.
