“Sit outside”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 2, 2012

Go in the summer. Sit outside. Order a bucket of beer. And go to town on the fresh steamed crab. For all its down home atmosphere and real crab flavor, the place is kind of expensive.

“Fun place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 18, 2012

A friend suggested this place. Bucket of crabs dumped on newspaper-covered table. Great with Sam Adams beer! Be prepared to get messy!

If you get in the mood for a nice pile of steaming crabs covered in old bay(ish) seasoning, Bethesda Crab House should be your destination. Its what they do and they are dang good at it.

“Melts in your mouth - Maryland Blue Crabs”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 29, 2011

The best crabs I have had in a long time. This is a no frills restaurant. It is a one person operation. The waiter, cook & cashier are the same person. I had the large Maryland blue crabs (Chesapeake Bay). You can order by the crab or by the dozen. The table is lines with stacks of newspaper. This is your table linen. The crab is steamed & served whole on a platter along with a wooden mallet & a bucket for the shells. The crab is caked with Old Bay Seasoning. They also give you a container with extra seasoning. The crab is absolutely fresh & just melts in your mouth. The taste is amazing. Block out the ambiance and enjoy the crabs. Make sure to wear your grungy clothes. The offer beer & wine. Other items on menu are Snow & Alaskan King crab legs, Shrimp, crab cakes, oysters & softshell crabs.

“Excellent food and staff if you can geat past the odor”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 24, 2011

We read about the crab house on TripAdvisor and decided to give it a try. Walking in the front door we almost left, the place was a mess (boxes and beer stored in the entry way)and the smell was over powering. Not something that would make you hungry by smelling the air or seeing the decor. The staff was excellent and very helpful, the food was amazing.

We ordered 8 of the x-large crabs and corn. The crabs were excellent flavor and cooked to perfection. We got instructions on opening them up and dug in to the feast and never looked back. This is not a place for someone looking for a fancy meal or staying clean during the evening. If you can't get past the smell or the decor then go to wone of the other places in this area, but if you want the best crab in town then be sure to stop hear or better yet get takeout.
