“Good food and wine in the French style”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 5, 2014 via mobile

We had just spent a very hot day walking the DC monuments so finding an outside seat in a restaurant with a decent wine list was exactly what we needed. The wine list is comprehensive and not cheap, we ordered one of the cheaper wines a very nice Muscadet at 40 dollars. A lovely warm baguette was served in a paper bag with a pat of unsalted butter, I think it was warmed in a microwave as it got very tough at the end. We ate frisee salad with bacon lardons and soft poached egg, delicious then a baked goats cheese in tomato sauce, the cheese got lost in the sauce which tasted like Campbell's soup served with herb bread, this was disappointing.
All in all though we enjoyed the service and the experience.

“reliable, never fails to please”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 3, 2014 credit card Amex Card Member Review

Mon Ami Gabi is terribly clichéed - but never fails to please. It is a reliable spot, always busy, and the service is excellent. They have thankfully not departed from a winning formula of French classics. The one quibble I might have is the bread: I have noticed a deterioration in the quality of bread lately. Also, what's with serving jam with the bread at lunchtime?!

“Great lunch”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 29, 2014

Four of us met to reconnect after years apart, and we found this to be the perfect place. Noise level permitted conversation and food was terrific: tasty crepes with seafood or ham & cheese were enjoyed as were sandwiches such as tuna melt and an open-faced special with grilled asparagus and poached egg. Service was perfect.

“Great food in a very nice setting”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2014

I went there for a business lunch and was impressed with the expansive and very diverse menu. Excellent selection of wines and a very attentive wait staff. The atmosphere and setting has a great vibe that unlike many other restaurants, doesn't come off as cliché or contrived. Portions were large and prepared exceptionally well. For myself, I had the Country Pate, Sea Scallops and the Steak Frittes. All three were excellent. When I'm in Bethesda again I will enjoy exploring the rest of the menu.
