We start with a bottle of wine and pick out the characteristics and nuances of the wine and then award winning Chef Jeffrey Heineman creates a menu item to highlight the flavors of the wine. “Perfect setting”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 7, 2013

I hosted a business dinner and wasn't sure how it would go over, but it was only about half full on a Tuesday and we had good seats by the front window. The best part was the mussels. I have never had such big, tender mussels and so many I was able to share with the whole table. They were the best! Everyone else really enjoyed the evening and their food, so it was perfect!

“Good restaurant in Bethesda”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 6, 2012

I enjoyed the food here, as did the other 4 in my group, though it was somewhat of a mixed bag. The Ahi tuna was outstanding. The bean soup was so-so, and served too cold. The dessert menu was limited; we got the cheese plate which was ok, but I've had better elsewhere.

I found the ambiance a bit disappointing. The restaurant was kept too cold for my comfort, the music was a bit too loud, and the lighting a tad too bright.

Overall, a high-quality place with some fantastic food, but a notch below similarly priced places in DC.

Excellent wines by the glass in a neighborhood bar atmosphere! Food was tasty and the wines well thought out.

“Excellent and imaginative food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 29, 2012

As others have said, Grapeseed is a great choice for foodies. Not inexpensive but good value for what you get. To cut costs, here's some advice: The beef-tip appetizer is a good-size portion. Go during Restaurant Week (both DC and Bethesda RW are twice/year), look for Groupons, and try their lunch deals, either 12.00 or 18.00 for appetizer and entree.

“Always excellent”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 5, 2012

Grapeseed never disappoints. Food and service are always excellent. Good wine selection. Shared appetizers and each had delicious entrees. We eat here 5-6 times a year and love it every time.
