“Lots!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 10, 2013

I like Jaleo, but with a large group it can be a problem to order/reorder small plates. Went with five friends last night, and ordered the "Jaleo Experience." $60/person. Plates arrive and depart. All good, all eaten, though we were rather full by the end. Quantity was not well represented by the server. We at first thought that we were going to be underfed, but additional "flights" beyond her description kept arriving, and we groaned when told we were up to the "meat course." Best of the night: oysters with gin & tonic, and the hanger steak with blue cheese. The jamon was fine but boring by comparison. Service lagged by the last third of the meal, leading to a rather late night. Wine is overpriced.

“Fun experience, delicious food, excellent staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 22, 2013

While visiting DC a friend took us here and we had such a great experience! We had never been to a tapas restaurant and loved the concept. The white sangria was delicious (though expensive) and everything we ate was perfect (except the sausage). The chicken fritters were our favorite along with the five cheese plate. Our water glasses never hit empty nor did our wine glasses as the servers were always willing to fill, clear plates, offer suggestions, etc...

“A Must for the Tapas Lover”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 12, 2013

Jaleo recently reopened and to celebrate they offered a "no-cost" menu. We were among the diners to happen upon this night of free, endless tapas tasting, a great stroke of luck. Absolutely everything was delicious and not just because of the price tag . The creamy white gazpacho had a flavor that was the absolute essence of its ingredients, served with tiny croutons -- a must for the gazpacho lover. My dining partner enjoyed the pan with jamon iberico, thick crusty slices of "rustic bread" with generous slices of Spanish ham. Pimientos Del Piquillo Rellenos de Queso are seared red peppers filled with goat cheese, very tasty but also a tiny serving of one little pepper each. There was an excellent bean salad. The piece de resistance (to jump over to French briefly) was the mediterranean paella, a perfect vegetarian paella to which we added shrimp. We thought this would come to the table in a smallish portion like the other tapas dishes. It arrived in a huge paella pan, ready to serve 6. Accompanying all these flavorful morsels was a La Ticota Gran Reserva, a dry sparkling wine that held up well against everything -- we paid for this. I agree with the other reviewers that you can easily run up the bill to a hefty price tag, a little taste of this, a little taste of that. But if you like tapas, you can find excellent specimens here and I highly recommend. The service was a bit confused, not sure why. We had waiters coming to the table with other diners' orders and received an extra order of exquisitely grilled salmon on a cauliflower puree which we didn't recall requesting. Maybe this dress rehearsal was much needed! Hope the kinks are out.

“Fantastic tapas”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 4, 2013

Best tapas ever. Nice selection and fair prices. An introduction to how you order (how much etc.) would have been nice.

“Good variety of tapas but a hefty bill”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 2, 2013

A friend suggested we meet here; I was a bit hesitant but did anyway. She loves tapas and had been to Jaleo previously.

I have to give them credit - they do tapas well, and there were many wonderful options from which to choose. However, the bill at the end had me gagging - I had to pay nearly $50 and did not get much at all to eat (and only had one drink). I will not be frequenting this place, at that cost.
