I think the other reviews were right on. This hotel is very average. It is on the scale of a 2 to 2 1/2 star hotel. But the difference is the beds. They are very comfortable and on the line of the new beds at the Marriott Courtyard hotels. The hotel is at the edge of Bethesda. You are about a 5 to 10 minute walk from most of the restaurants. You are about a 5 to 7 minute walk to the NIH Metro stop. The parking lot is pretty convenient. If touring DC, I would try to get a hotel closer to the metro and the district. It is about a 20 minute metro ride to the Smithsonians and other main attractions. One thing to note is that internet access in the rooms is free at this hotel. However, make sure to bring your own ethernet cable. They do provide some at the front desk, but both times I stayed at this hotel, they ran out of them. There is no WIFI access in the rooms.

This hotel is indeed very average. I saw that the average rate is $180 and almost laughed out loud. It's definitely not worth that price. I got a semi-decent deal on priceline for $66 a night so I won't complain too much, but I didn't feel that the hotel was that convenient on foot to either of the nearby metro stations, the lobby bathroom was pretty poorly kept with a box of tissue serving as toilet paper in one of the stalls, and our room leaked incessantly when it rained. I did feel that the beds and pillows were very comfortable, but the rooms were pretty small. There was one computer in the lobby and the printer stayed with very little ink for nearly 3 days. The proximity to the Beltway and 95 was convenient, but I don't think I would ever consider staying here again.

...the hotel were in the former Soviet Union. It's moderately, but only moderately, clean and in generally fair, but not great, repair. It has an institutional atmosphere to it. The good news is that my non-smoking room did not even have a trace odor of cigarette smoke; the bad news is that it reeked of Raid. The restaurant blows. I ended up walking across the street to the Texaco station, where the dining experience was superior. I would recommend this hotel if you could get it for, say $60/night; unfortunately, I paid three times that amount.

we found this place for a great price through hotwire. we found out upon arrival that three days before our arrival (about a week ago), the four points had been bought out by clarion hotels. so it is no longer the four points, but a clarion hotel. based on the reviews, i'd believe it when people say that the service and facilities weren't so great. however, i have a few thoughts:

--there were seemingly new poeple working at the front desk and they were all courteous and very helpful.
--the rooms are definitely very worn and older. we were on the first floor (by the way, try to request another floor room b/c it was very loud due to the close vicinity of the bar/restaurant they have and the traffic flow). the ceilings were also yellowing from past leaks and aging. the walls looked a bit dingy.
--our alarm clock was broken and not working. fortunately, we had brought our own.
--they slipped free USA Todays under our door each morning, which was nice.
--herbal essence products in the bathroom were also nice.
--the bed was exceptionally comfortable and clean. i think this was the main redeeming quality that hte hotel had. the linens were clean, the bed large, firm and plush. very comfortable.
--paying $11 for parking is a bit of an annoyance. however, you pay this when you check out and they also seem to have no way of verifying whether or not you used their parking. in fact, they didnt even ask about parking. so, we ended up not paying at all :).
--great location. i heard it's not far from public transporatation. and if you hav a car, it's very easy access to most sightseeing locations.

overall, unless they update the rooms a bit, i don't think i will be staying here again. however, because it has been taken over by clarion, perhaps they will fix it up a bit :).
