I typically do an enormous amount of research befor booking a hotel stay. I must admit, I rely heavily upon trip advisor reviews before booking. Based upon the very mixed reviews of the Bethesda Court Hotel, it would normally have never made the cut -- but with the Inauguration approaching, and availability dwindling, I decided to book it anyway and put up with the reported problems. Much to our family of four's surprise, the hotel suited us perfectly! The hotel is very conveniently located a block and a half to the Red Line metro, short walk to many restaurants, and 24hr CVS. We arrived hours before check-in (about 11am) and were accommodated with no problem at all. The room was very clean, cozy (small-ish), nice flat screen TV, and handy fridge. Complimentary breakfast and evening tea & cookies was nice. It was too cold to use the Courtyard, but it looked lovely. The deal with the water in the room was easily balanced. The only possible "hitch" during our stay was our room being mistaken for an MSNBC staff room (!), and thus being offered fruit baskets and cab rides at odd hours. Truth-- it is not a 5 star hotel, but merely a "motel" with a nice surface renovation, but that's what makes it so affordable. The price was so right, in fact, I see no reason why we wouldn't stay there for our return trip to DC (to actually see the museums) this summer. p.s. My youngest wants to add "the TV was Awesome!"
