“Another good stay at old fashioned small hotel in Bethesda”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2014

We always enjoy coming to this 3 story hotel in a great location, only 2 blocks north of the Bethesda Metro stop. Using a Groupon coupon, the rate was less than $100 a night--parking was not included, so we paid $15 per day. We left the car in the lot because the Metro is so convenient, as is the free Bethesda Circulator, a bus that loops around Bethesda. There is a Circulator stop as you exit the hotel in the rear, across the street (make sure to get a map of the Circulator stops),

We got a room on the second floor near the front--we would have prefered a room overlooking the courtyard--there were none available, but that was not a problem. Room had a flat screen TV, excellent king size bed, safe, fridge, Kureck coffee maker and good free wifi. Courtyard is pleasant, as the small lobby, which has a computer and books to borrow. Continental breakfast is adequate, with hard boiled eggs, bagels, muffins, cereal, juice, coffee and tea. The breakfast room is small and a little too tight to sit unless it is almost empty so we either eat in the courtyard or carry it back to the rooom.

The hotel has an elevator and fitness room. The staff members are always pleasant and helpful and we were able to check in very early--a real plus. There are many dining options within a few blocks from the hotel--pizza, Middle Eastern, French country cafe, etc.

Room Tip: Try to get room toward the rear, away from Wisconsin Ave.

My view of the hotel was really shaped by seeing someone fall over outside - the rain was pelting down and there is a steel set in the sidewalk outside the hotel - and witnessing the gentleman on duty behind the desk rush out with an umbrella, usher the stranger inside, and call the hotel car's driver so that the person who fell could have a ride to wherever he was going. So I would definitely say that the hotel staff is kind, friendly, attentive, and quick-witted! In addition, the rooms were very clean, the décor was warm, and the complimentary breakfast featured healthy choices. And the courtyard is very nice, with wooden benches and thriving flowerbeds.

The Staff is exceptionally kind, courteous and customer oriented. I enjoy my stay everytime. My front desk clerk Viola is clearly created for the Challenge of pleasing the customer. She makes me feel comfortable and safe. She also goes that extra mile to make sure I have everything I need to complete my stay. Keep up the GOOD WORK......

Had an appointment with NIH and stayed overnight. Very friendly, personable staff. Helpful and kind. Room was clean, bed was comfortable, and there was little noise overnight. Perfect for someone who isn't into the big luxury experience but prefers something smaller, more intimate.

We stayed two nights at the hotel. The location was good, lots of restaurants close by and about a block away from the Metro. The downside was the breakfast was not too good and the Queen bed was way too small. The staff were extremely friendly and polite, and small perks like free drinking water bottles and free car trips to nearby locations were a big plus

We stayed here to be close to NIH and to use the Limo service for the hospital visit. But, we were so impressed with all the staff especially the front desk; the location and the services that we would recommend this hotel for anyone wanting to visit the DC area. Bethesda has 175 restaurants and a free shuttle that circles thru the best parts of town. Park you car and take the Shuttle to the Metro and you are anywhere you want to go in metro DC area for sightseeing and fun. The Bethesda Court provides a elaborate continental+ breakfast that would satisfy anyone. The rooms are comfortable and clean and housekeeping is very accommodating. It's located on Wisconsin Ave just off the I-495 Beltway and easy to access and parking is secure.

Room Tip: All the rooms are good but some on the North side overlook the walled garden which is well furnished...
