“Intimate Hotel, Friendly Staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 19, 2014

Had an appointment with NIH and stayed overnight. Very friendly, personable staff. Helpful and kind. Room was clean, bed was comfortable, and there was little noise overnight. Perfect for someone who isn't into the big luxury experience but prefers something smaller, more intimate.

We stayed two nights at the hotel. The location was good, lots of restaurants close by and about a block away from the Metro. The downside was the breakfast was not too good and the Queen bed was way too small. The staff were extremely friendly and polite, and small perks like free drinking water bottles and free car trips to nearby locations were a big plus

We stayed here to be close to NIH and to use the Limo service for the hospital visit. But, we were so impressed with all the staff especially the front desk; the location and the services that we would recommend this hotel for anyone wanting to visit the DC area. Bethesda has 175 restaurants and a free shuttle that circles thru the best parts of town. Park you car and take the Shuttle to the Metro and you are anywhere you want to go in metro DC area for sightseeing and fun. The Bethesda Court provides a elaborate continental+ breakfast that would satisfy anyone. The rooms are comfortable and clean and housekeeping is very accommodating. It's located on Wisconsin Ave just off the I-495 Beltway and easy to access and parking is secure.

Room Tip: All the rooms are good but some on the North side overlook the walled garden which is well furnished...

This hotel is small, with small rooms that are decent but could use a renovation. Bathrooms are 80s marble glam but tiny. The hallways also have a dark feeling, maybe its the lighting and carpet plus the elevator is very small. The clerks are very accommodating and the free car shuttle to area places is a plus.

The is no hotel bar or a pool. The clerks were fine with us having cocktails of our own in the patio area. Very decent restaurants nearby and a liquor store (helps with no bar). Wifi is spotty.
I never tried the free continental breakfast but it seemed busy.

Very close to the metro stop so you can get to the White House (or wherever) with a short ride.

Also, a Safeway grocery store nearby if you want munchies for the room or need personal items

Decent place to stay if you don't plan on spending very much time in the room or for 2 people or less but if you are looking for something more hotel wise or with kids, this isn't your place.

I agree with some reviewers about its good location to Metro, restaurants, popular coffee shops and even a supermarket is nearby. I booked 2 rooms for 2 nights during mid week, 2 weeks prior to my arrival, spoke to Brandon on the phone to request getting one handicapped accessible room and one regular room on upper floor, was told all set. When I checked-in, was told both rooms would be on the first floor, I let it go. Being on the first floor meant right on the courtyard level (love the courtyard!). It was a rainy, humid day and the carpeted walkway to the room was completely soaked. First room for my elderly parents surely was a regular room not a handicapped accessible room as requested. Luckily, the room was spacious enough to maneuver. When I went to my room, there was a very heavy smell like Frebeze or carpet deodorizer. The smell was so strong that air conditioning was not helpful and it was getting on my clothes. The front desk staff said they would open the windows to ventilate the smell. When I returned to the room in the evening, windows in the room and bathroom were opened and the smell was not as strong as before. However, when I turned on the light in the bathroom, I wished the hotel had the screen installed on the window. Will I come back to this hotel? Maybe but not on the first floor.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the courtyard is quieter.

We stayed in Betheseda to save money. I was afraid it was a ii stake, but it was great! The staff was so helpful. The rooms were very nice and good size. They had a breakfast bar, ver minimal, but sufficient. There are some good restaurants in the area and all of DC is a subway ride away! The subway is only a couple of blocks away. I would definitely stay here again!

I probably should have been warned by the person at the desk who didn't smile when I gave my name for my reservation. As I looked up out of awkwardness I noticed a huge crack in the ceiling and water stains. Then I noticed the mess at the front desk...

It's an only building and therefore the elevator was about 4 feet by 4 feet. I went to the room and noticed: 1. The TV was on. 2. The letter from the manager greeting me had stains on it. 3. The room was ridiculously hot.

Since I checked in in the evening, I turned the AC on. The blinds were already shut. What I did not know, until 4 am was that there were windows open in the room. This explains why the room did not cool off. What was the kicker was, the windows don't shut all the way, there is a crack in one and no screens. So, they gave me a room where someone closed the curtains, knowingly left a window open, with no screen.

For the price we paid, I would have had a better room, better service and a nicer staff at the Hilton down the road.

Room Tip: IF I had to suggest a room, get one with 2 beds, it will be larger. And do not stay on an end. You...
