“No complaints here!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 22, 2012

My husband and I stayed here on a weekend trip to DC by using a Groupon. Don't let the outside fool you, it's much nicer on the inside. Our bed was very comfortable and our room was clean. It was nothing special but we were completely satisfied and we're not high-maintenance. The breakfast isn't anything special either (cereal, hard boiled eggs, bagels, fruit, yogurt, etc.) but it did the job! On our last day, we wanted to explore DC some more and the hotel staff allowed us to keep our car parked at the hotel even after we had checked out. That was a huge help! The hotel is in a great location near a metro station that is only about 5 stops from the mall and museums. The hotel isn't in DC but it's probably as close as you can get without having to pay the price. Would we return? Absolutely.

Bethesda Court is an old fashioned (50 years old) 3 story hotel with 75 rooms right in the middle of Bethesda about an easy 2/10 mile walk south to the Metro stop. There is alot to like about this place--we had a Groupon coupon to stay two nights, Friday and Saturday which nornally would be about $200 a night plus $15 a night for parking. The Groupon was $189, and included free parking, chocolates and free bottled water. A good deal for the DC area.

After reading the Trip Advisor reviews we requested and got a room overlooking the beautiful garden courtyard, away from noisy Wisconsin Ave. The hotel let us check in 2 hours early at 1 PM. There is a small evelator for the 3 floors. Our room had a large comfortable king size bed, flat screen TV, microwave, fridge and coffee maker, a safe and free wifi. There was a desk and an easy chair.

The lobby area has 2 computers for use, two sitting areas, with 6 comfortable chairs and a sofa. The hotel provides a continental breakfast and the breakfast room is right off the lobby. That was the worst part about our stay--the breakfast room has only 5 small tables and getting to the food items was very difficult at times because of the tight space. Some people were eating their breakfast in the lobby and if the weather was nice you could eat in the courtyard. We found it was easier to take the food in a tray up to our 2nd floor room. The breakfast was adequate--coffee/tea, packaged cold cereals, packaged juice, yogurt, bagels and muffins, fruit and hard boiled eggs. Nothing hot, but what they had was tasty.

The staff was very pleasant and helpful and we especially appreciated the early registration. Overall we enjoyed out stay at the Bethesda Court and the Groupon made the cost somewhat reasonable and fit our budget.

Room Tip: Get a room overlooking the courtyard away from Wisconsin Ave.

We've stayed at the Bethesda Court twice, both times for several days. It's a great location, just a block from the Bethesda Metro if you cut through the back parking lot instead of walking all the way up to Wisconsin Ave. (in which case it's an extra block). There are numerous restaurants within easy walking distance, a few within a block of the hotel. Rooms are well laid out and have a fridge and microwave.

The hotel's extended weekend rates (which we have taken advantage of both times) are a superb value. We've followed the advice of other Trip Advisor reviewers and have requested a third floor king-bedded room with a shower/bath when making our reservation. We have never had a problem with the cleanliness of the room. The king size beds are very comfortable. The management and front desk staff have always been friendly, dispensing bottles of water and chocolates upon our arrival and whenever else we have asked for them. The housekeeping staff doesn't seem to speak English and I have never been able to communicate with them beyond putting the "please make up the room" sign.

The self-serve breakfast (there's no actual restaurant) is best suited to people on the go--toast your own bagels and breads, cold cereals, yogurt, juice, a wide variety of tea for tea-drinkers. When we want a more varied a hot breakfast we go out for it. The Bethesda Court is reasonable enough even without the on site breakfast. The complimentary limo is catch-as-catch-can. They were very nice about picking us up upon our arrival at the Bethesda Metro Station but the limo is not always available when you need it, even when you have reserved it in advance. Have a "Plan B" just in case. When

The only reason I am giving it a 4 instead of a 5 have to do with very minor things that have nothing to do with the room. The elevator is small and sometimes slow, but that's not a huge problem since there are only 3 floors to the hotel and if you are able bodied, in a hurry and have no luggage with you, you can easily use the stairs even if you are on the top floor. The hallways of the upper floors (especially the third floor, since heat rises) can be a bit warm in summer, but once you are in the room the air-conditioning works great. Shower caps are not provided among the bathroom amenities, and if you bring your own disposable shower cap, as I did, don't leave it hanging in the bathroom or it may be thrown out by the maid, as mine was.

All in all, we really like the Bethesda Court and consider it our "home away from home" in the Washington DC area. It's going to torn down sometime in the next year or two and rebuilt along with the neighboring buildings, but until then, I would highly recommend it, and hope we get back to it while it is still in its current incarnation.

Room Tip: Third floor rooms with shower/bath overlooking the courtyard were recommended by other Trip Advisor...

We paid almost $400 to say 4 hours in a "suite" that had a dirty toilet that hadn't been cleaned. The shower rod was broken and dangerous. The room also smelled like vomit in the entryway. The staff is very rude. When we called to discuss the dirty room and wanted to show him the photo evidence, he was abrupt and told us he was unwilling to make any concessions and we should let our credit card company handle the dispute. DO NOT STAY HERE unless you want to pay lots of money for a disgusting room!

My girlfriend and I spent two weekend nights at the Bethesda Court while visiting the D.C. area. We chose this hotel through a Groupon offer that included the $15 parking fee, as it was so close to the Bethesda Metro Station, and we have friends who live in Bethesda.

I was a little apprehensive since I had never used Groupon for a hotel offer. So we were pleasantly surprised with our stay. The hotel while small in comparison to nearby hotels, had a comfortable and cozy lobby that was nicely appointed, and had a reading room feel to it. Our room was also cozy. It was clean and nicely furnished with a European aire to it. The bathroom was small, but very clean and also nicely appointed. The room had a flat screen TV, mini-fridge, microwave, iron and ironing board, and a room safe. A paticulary nice extra is the coffee maker in the room, which is a Keurig K-Cup. And there was a selection of K-cups from which to choose.

A continental breakfast is included with your stay. It is served in a small room off the lobby, which gets crowded quickly. But there is a beautiul courtyard outside the lobby where you can take your food to eat. The selection was typical for a continental breakfast: Coffee (Starbucks brand) and juice (orange and cranberry), an assortment of bagels with butter and cream cheese, hard-boiled eggs, some pastries, milk, yogurt, and an assortment of cereals.

Unlike a previous reviewer that found the staff unfriendly and no written information on places to eat in the area. We found the desk staff to be friendly and helpful. And there was all kinds of information on places to eat and things to do in Bethesda. All in all, we had a delightful stay and would definitely stay there again.

Room Tip: If there are just two people in the room, I would suggest a room with a king bed, rather than two be...

Spent a couple of nights here whilst golfing and sight-seeing in the D.C. area.

Comfortable clean room and the hotel is well placed for shops and restaurants.

The Metro station is a couple of blocks away and within 20 minutes or so you are in downtown D.C.

Only slight annoyance was being charged $15 a night for parking but I suppose it is considered a city hotel.

The Court Hotel was a nice surprise and the area had access to everything we needed. I would recommend this hotel to anyone.
