Bethesda Court is an old fashioned (50 years old) 3 story hotel with 75 rooms right in the middle of Bethesda about an easy 2/10 mile walk south to the Metro stop. There is alot to like about this place--we had a Groupon coupon to stay two nights, Friday and Saturday which nornally would be about $200 a night plus $15 a night for parking. The Groupon was $189, and included free parking, chocolates and free bottled water. A good deal for the DC area.
After reading the Trip Advisor reviews we requested and got a room overlooking the beautiful garden courtyard, away from noisy Wisconsin Ave. The hotel let us check in 2 hours early at 1 PM. There is a small evelator for the 3 floors. Our room had a large comfortable king size bed, flat screen TV, microwave, fridge and coffee maker, a safe and free wifi. There was a desk and an easy chair.
The lobby area has 2 computers for use, two sitting areas, with 6 comfortable chairs and a sofa. The hotel provides a continental breakfast and the breakfast room is right off the lobby. That was the worst part about our stay--the breakfast room has only 5 small tables and getting to the food items was very difficult at times because of the tight space. Some people were eating their breakfast in the lobby and if the weather was nice you could eat in the courtyard. We found it was easier to take the food in a tray up to our 2nd floor room. The breakfast was adequate--coffee/tea, packaged cold cereals, packaged juice, yogurt, bagels and muffins, fruit and hard boiled eggs. Nothing hot, but what they had was tasty.
The staff was very pleasant and helpful and we especially appreciated the early registration. Overall we enjoyed out stay at the Bethesda Court and the Groupon made the cost somewhat reasonable and fit our budget.
