“Great lunch spot”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 13, 2013

I like this place better fror lunch. Nice menu, varied, and reasonably priced. Seem to always have great specials and you can't go wrong. Great burger or lamd burger. Just wish they hadn't taken the Rueben off the menu. Best Reuben in town.

“Terrible Customer Service”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed March 11, 2013

My husband and I came here early for happy hour before our dinner reservation. I was looking forward to the great wine selection, and the menu looked amazing. However, when we arrived at about 5:15 p.m., nearly half of the bar seats had "reserved" signs on them. Not just bar tables, but about half of the seats at the actual bar. Who formally reserves seats at the bar? We later found out from someone else that this is a common occurrence at this establishment. What a horrible business practice. Why not have a first-come, first-serve policy for the bar area like most restaurants and/or require large groups to reserve their own tables for happy hour provided they leave by a certain time before the dinner crowd comes in? That would be a win-win for everyone.

As all of the available bar seats were reserved, and there was not really even room to stand, we politely asked if we could be seated early for dinner (our reservation was at 7 p.m.) and have drinks at our table. The hostess told us she could seat us for dinner, but could not give us happy hour prices at the tables. Keep in mind that it was only just a little after 5 p.m., well before the dinner rush time, and the restaurant was practically empty other than at the bar. We were also going to eat dinner there, so it was not going to be a small bill! When the hostess got the manager, he was nonapologetic and also told us that he could not give us happy hour at our table!

A little customer service goes a long way, and this establishment did not even try to accommodate. No apologies or effort to help solve the problem. My husband and I just told them to cancel our dinner reservation and we walked over to the Mussel Bar, where we experienced outstanding customer service the moment we walked in--the staff brought a stool over to the bar for us when there weren't enough seats! And this was without us even asking!

We have so many choices where we can spend our hard-earned money when we go out to eat and drink, and we would prefer not to frequent establishments that show disdain for their customers. Such poor customer service is so rare in this area. After this experience, we will not be back to Food Wine and Co. unless there is a change in management and will tell everyone we know about our terrible experience here.

“Saturday night dining fun”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 10, 2013

6 of us went to dinner on a Saturday night before going to the comedy show at the Hyatt down the block. Friendly waiter, David, seated us in the back room where you could easily converse without straining to hear. We had a fun meal of well-priced wine, delicious burgers, scrumptious tater-tots, and mussels to die for. The beet appetizer was so-so, wouldn't recommend. Fries and chips are outstanding. We'll definitely go back. With wine, appetizers, and entrees averaged $40 per person after tip, and we were there for an hour and a half. Excellent service from beginning to end.

“I hope last night was just a blip”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 10, 2013

We have been to this restaurant many times. Last night we arrived for our 8:15 reservations and what a mess! There were gobs of people crowded around the maitre de. Not a good sign. People with reservations for 7:30 had still not gotten seated. There seemed to be chaos going on and the best excuse I was able to get was that they couldn't ask people to leave their tables. Why not? If people have finished their meals, and are spending an overly long time lingering while people with reservations are waiting for 45 or more minutes, than I say that they should politely ask those diners lingering to leave. Am I wrong? We have not had this experience in the past but we ended up leaving because we saw the writing on the wall. Hope they fixed whatever went wrong last night because if it happens again, we won't go back.
