“Pleasant Stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 3, 2013

We stayed here for the third time and really enjoyed our stay.

The hotel is in Bethesda, very close to the metro/subway thta takes you right into D.C..On weekends it is great value and much cheaper than staying in D.C.

The hotel is clean, the rooms are spacious and it satisfied our needs. The staff are always helpful and polite and they have a couple of nice touches, such as coffee all day in the lobby and each evening, they rolled in a popcon machine and gave out popcorn, our kids loved this.

We had the breakfast buffet each morning. On our last visits, the breakfast was good and had a good selection. This time around, the food was so/so and I found the hot food (bacon/sausages) to be greasy and not so good. I did complain and the manager took my concerns to heart and was genuinely concerned. As a result of this, she did waive our parking fee, which was a nice touch and made up for the problem in some way.

As with all the hotels on this road trip, the pool was really cold. Why???? No-one wants to swim in a cold pool and the life-guard on duty said there was nothing he could do about it. It curtailed our swimming, which was a shame as this is a big thing for our kids. (Stop being stingy and heat the pool properly!!)

Overall, I like this hotel and will stay here again next time we are in town.

We arrived here last week as refugees from the Hyatt Regency. The smooth transition from garage to lobby impressed us and we were pleased by the welcoming and efficient check-in...the whole process took five minutes or less. The rooms are up-to-date, spacious and the bed was great. Free WiFi and a decent breakfast buffet. This place really works.

Room Tip: Try to overlook the front... the back overlooks a parking garage.

Very clean, updated hotel. Tucked a block in from Wisconcin Ave, so helps keep quiet. A block or two from the Bethesda Metro station. Took the Metro downtown for $3.65 one-way (including the $1 per trip paper-ticket surchage, couldn't figure out how to pay for the ride without the paper ticket). Bethesda must be a weathy area given the 3 brokerage houses, Bently dealer and fur shop on Wisconsin, however still didn't feel altogether safe when we left the Metro station later at night, some transient folks milling about.

Front desk staff were pleasant and helpful. Internet was free and response time was acceptable.

Rooms were nice sized - wide (not too narrow). Adjustable beds (firm/soft). Pool and fitness center OK. No windows. Life guard on duty was kind of goofy given the typical hotel-sized pool, but if you're with young children might make you feel more comfortable.

Breakfast was $15 I think, but we decided to go out. Free coffee/tea/hot chocolate/lemonade in lobby. Free popcorn in the evening (chambermaids must love it). Trader Joe's a couple of blocks down Wisconsin. Try the Italian deli/pizza place on Miller (Luce's?). Best pizza I've ever had. Try Madeline's for breakfast (a block past the Metro on Old Georgetown). When any of the stores ask you for a bag, that means you're paying a 5 cents tax just so you know. County government has nothing better to do. There were few recycling receptacles around, and none in the hotel.

Parking garage is attached to hotel, $15/day. Charge it to room, use room key to exit, and just drop in a box after you exit to check out. Municpal parking a block away, on your way to the Metro station, police station is right across the street.

Only things holding me back from a 5 rating is, the in-room safe was not open when we arrived, and the bath faucet was slow. Not sure if this was due to 13th floor location - shower was decent, so could've just been a blocked aerator. Easy things to fix if they inventoried their rooms, but not enough to have me call down to wait on someone to fix.

Room Tip: The 13th floor had relatively nice views, except to the left, where an office building stood. Offic...

Recently stayed here on a business trip…..didn’t get to check out the area because it was just one night, but the hotel was nice enough……Only issue I had was with the parking garage and that was my stupidity …..Pay attention to where your should swipe your room key to get in and out…..I didn’t the first time……

Over all a great stay. Close to Metro for easy access to DC. Hotel breakfast was good but overpriced @ $15.00. Staff was friendly and helpful. Room/Bathroom was clean. Loved the fact that we had free Wifi and internet acess in our room. We did not get to use pool and spa due to our schedule.Would stay again if in area

I was staying with my husband and two children. The kids loved the cookies and popcorn in the lobby at the end of the day and the hot chocolate in the lobby in the morning. We avoided the breakfast because it seemed ridiculously overpriced (but aren't all non-gratis hotel breakfasts?) The hours of the pool were a bit odd (5-10PM, weekdays), but the kids were thrilled they got to swim at all, given that is was early March and COLD outside. The location was just right for us - close to a metro stop with restaurants and shops within easy walking distance. The one MAJOR downside was the mildew smell in the room. It was most pronounced when first entering, and since none of us are really sensitive to it, we didn't fret. However, I could see it being a major issue for some.

Rated as 3 star, but probably higher in my opinion. Good value, best for business travellers as recreation facilities are not the best. Breakfast is okay, but staff are over-attentive; it's a bit like they are doing this in order to get a tip at the end, though that may be an American thing, not just this hotel.
