Had an 8p reservation on a Saturday nite. Saw two open tables but it took them 25 mins to clear and set them. Not a great start but once settled the service was at a nice pace...enough time between courses to enjoy wine and conversation but not so long as to wonder "where is my order". Advice: in the cold weather don't take the window seats...slight north westerly breeze and the blinking lights are a negative. We moved and I was glad for it.
As my heritage is traced to southern italy I feel I have the appropriate taste buds to comment on classic red tomato sauce. In my family if the review is to say its like grandma's there is no higher compliment. The chef here deserves kudos for his/ her tomato sauce. Grandma is smiling! A unique twist on calamari was a welcome surprise...give up the ubiquitous fried option and try this one. I was in the mood for veggies and opted for the rolled eggplant... Perfect proportion of ricotta, mozzarella and sauce...which to me means not floating in a sea of cheese and sauce. Served with an al dente portion of thin spaghetti. Dinner was served with a slightly warm and crusty bread. But I would prefer to see olive oil served with it in lieu of butter.
I'd go back to this spot to try more of the chef's offerings!
