My husband and I enjoyed a short stay at York Harbor Inn last week. Our room was in the main inn. We were very impressed with the personal attention of the staff. All our needs were met promptly and in a caring manner.
We received an excellent room rate with an Internet special.
The "gathering room" with a big stone fireplace was warm, inviting, and charming. That part of the Inn is incredibly old, like from 17th century.
The desk clerk made honest recommendations for our dinner plans in the Inn's upper floor restaurant, even to her favorite menu items. She was correct. Our server also wisely recommended changes to our first choices. We took her advice. Yumm! The seafood chowder was the best I've ever eaten. The fried haddock was wonderful. My husband enjoyed the pear and goat cheese salad and lobster-stuffed chicken.
The Inn is located directly across the highway from the beach. There is a beautiful secluded park lining the ocean front with a rocky shoreline, beautiful trees, and incredible views.
Our breakfast buffet was lovely. The presentation and food were very tastefully served. The breakfast host and hostess were very friendly and personable.
We would recommend this charming coastal Inn.

I just submitted a review on another Inn in ME, Coach Stop Inn in Bar Harbor and I couldn't find a negative thing to say. That will be no problem with the York Harbor.
My husband and I have been visiting the York Harbor Inn for about 25 years. Wow! That is because we have some great memories and have had great experiences at the York Harbor. This visit we decided to bring along our best friends to share in what we feel has always been a safe bet.
The Inn has grown and lost it's true inn feel. We were only there for 1 night and so we chose the least expensive room (If you can call $160/night cheap) These room are so small I felt clastrophobic, REALLY!! And the bathroom was the size of a closet. If that isn't bad enough, the knob fell off the door on the outside and I was trapped in. Thank God my husband was on the other side. We must have been just above where the kitchen employees came outside for a smoke, so we had to shut one of our VERY SMALL windows to keep the smoke out of the room.
We ate dinner in the dining room and again did not measure up to our previous stays. They have relaxed their dress code to the point that the table next to us the gentleman was in his bathing suit and left his baseball cap on. I am not a formal person at all and don't feel it is necessary for a suit and tie, but when you are dining with linen tables there should be some standard. There is the pub downstairs for bathing suits and baseball caps. Our waiter was an other story, he was either new or should chose another line of work. I can't even say anything good about the food. All of our meals were dried out(we think our waiter left them under the warming light too long.
I am really bummed out. I always looked forward to our visits to the York Harbor Inn. I will be checking out Trip Advisor for another location in the York area for next time.

“Wonderful location, rooms, food...wonderful everything!”

York Harbor Inn

We stayed here during early June, 2007. It was for our honeymoon, and the experience couldn't have been better! The York Harbor Inn is actually a collection of four small bed and breakfast type buildings. We had a room in the newest building, the Harbor Hill Inn. This building is pretty new, but the rest of the buildings included on the property are really, really old...like 1700's. I love history, so i wish we had been in an older building, but the one we were in had great rooms. Our room was very spacious, had a view of the harbor (we kept our windows open and could hear the waves crashing on the shore), and a jacuzzi tub. The people who work here are soooo friendly and good at what they do. There was a complimentary breakfast served right downstairs...it included assorted muffins, delicious cinnamon rolls, granola, raisin bran, toast, juices, etc...

We arrived in York right before the peak season, so traffic and parking were never a problem. I'm not sure how bad traffic gets during peak season, though. The restaurant in the main building is delicious! The restaurant and the pub beneath it actually serve the same menu, so if you feel like getting dressed up or would rather just stay low-key for the night, you can enjoy some great Maine fare.

My favorite things about this Inn were probably the location and just the overall ambience of this historic place.

My wife and I recently returned from our third stay at the York Harbor Inn. The trip was wonderful as always!

Our room was in the Harbor Cliffs Inn which is adjacent to the main inn. The Harbor Cliffs has a lovely lobby/sitting room with a small library and fireplace. Some steep stairs to our second floor room which was a tad small but nicely appointed with period furnishings and a king size sleigh bed. The bathroom was tiny, but certainly tolerable.

We had lunch (twice) and dinner at the Cellar Pub during our stay, and the food was terrific. I highly recommend the Harborside sandwich for lunch and the beer-battered haddock and fries for dinner! We had dinner twice in the Inn's restaurant, and it continues to impress. Gotta have the lobster-stuffed chicken and the Maine blueberry pie! Nice wine selection and great service.

Plenty of shopping nearby in Kittery if that's your thing. If not, York is an amazingly historic town to explore on foot. Be sure to get the walking tour list from the desk and head out for the Fisherman's walk with strolls around the Harbor, through some woods, and back out through some historic areas before circling back to the Inn.

Great complimentary coffee near the front desk. The common room in the Inn is one of my favorite spots on Earth. A 300+ year old fireplace and ceiling beams! Great ambience. The staff is always courteous and helpful.

We can't wait for our fourth trip to the York Harbor Inn!

My husband and I just returned from a lovely romantic anniversary at the York Harbor Inn. I had seen it on line and it was just the place I wanted. Some of the reviews we had read were not favorable but my husband and I always like to make our own decisions on a place. This was beautiful. We stayed in a deluxe room which was located in the Yorkshire building ajacent to the Main Inn. We loved the old feeling of the room which was emaculate! My husband had ordered the Romantic Package which they offer which includes, champagne, champagne goblets, candy, and roses! Needles to say I loved it! Right across the street was the ocean. In the room there are directions for walks which was great. We never would have discovered Wiggly Bridge, the Marginal Way or the Harbor without them. It was great to take a walk by the beautiful homes and also the water front. We ate at the Main Dining Room which is decorated beautiful Our meals and service was great! The Pub was fun and again the staff is very friendly! The Inn is situated in such a way that you can easily explore the surrounding area which we did but at the end of the day it was great to come back to the Inn and relax in front of the fireplace. We enjoyed our 34th anniversary at the York Harbor Inn and definately will go back!!!
