Small Inn on Stageneck road in York Maine. Very quaint! Very Quiet! The room was very clean and welcoming. We stayed in the "York suite" which could easily fit 4. Large bedroom, very large bathroom and inviting hottub, perched with a view of the harbor. The staff was very accomodating and informative. The room was better than anticipated and a great value. We will return and recommend it highly.

Website description: "THE SEASCAPE ROOM
is located on the 2nd floor and makes you feel like you are right next to the ocean "what a view" along with a queen bed and a private big blue tile bathroom."

Comments: I'd say the website photo is photoshopped, because the ocean is quite a long way away, across a large brightly lighted parking lot. This was a big disappointment.

The blue tile bathroom is 1950's vintage and not charming. In fact the entire inn is about that vintage and it is not retro, but tired and dated. Breakfast is less than chain motel quality.

Poor value for the price.

We spent 4 nights at the Inn. And what a great time we had! We stayed in the EZView room and the name couldn't be more appropriate. The spacious, third floor suite had wonderful views of the harbor and the nearby ocean and fantastic sea breezes with the windows open. The large property has several rooms for the guests to use, a large lawn with adirondac chairs offering views of the harbor and it's at most a 5 minute walk to a nice litte stretch of beach. Breakfast was way beyond the usual "continental breakfast" we usually get. There were homemade cakes and large bowls of mixed fruit along with the bagels, muffins, coffee and tea etc. The Inn is located a few minutes from so many attractions we'll have to go back a few more times to see it all! If you're looking for something in the York area, don't miss this hidden gem!

“Relaxing Inn”

Edwards' Harborside Inn

My husband and I stayed at Edward's Harborside for three nights in September, 2006. We stayed in the Surfside room on the first floor. It was huge, with a big bathroom and a private entrance to the porch (which had a lovely view of the harbor.) The room was very comfortable and also had a little refrigerator which was convenient.
We choose this room because it had an ocean view. You could see a strip of ocean past the parking lot, lawn, road and the grounds and tennis courts of the resort across the road. I'm sure the upper floor
rooms had nicer views but we did like being on the first floor.

Breakfast was a light continental buffet. You just helped yourself and found a seat in the parlor. It was nice and informal. The innkeeper was very friendly and offered many sightseeing ideas.

It was very quiet - a little beach was about five minutes away and you could walk along the harbor. Also nearby was a larger inn with a nice bar and excellent restaurant. If you are looking for a relaxing getaway, this is a pretty place.

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Edwards' Harborside Inn for a weekend in late August 2006 in the York suite (the largest room, which also has a hottub). We paid $250/night plus 7% maine tax AND an additional service charge of 8% (which was advertised upfront on their website).

The Inn itself is in need of a major update. The last update appeared to have taken place in late 70s/early 80s. The furnishings, carpeting, fixtures, etc. just didn't seem to fit in with the charming exterior.

On the plus side, the innkeeper was very friendly and the view was breathtaking. From our room, we had both an ocean view AND a habor view. It was a nice, quiet location and just a short walk away from to the York Inn Restaurant. The rate was appropriate for the location and time of year, but not necessarily the condition of the Inn.
